Since the simplification of the recipe system, the need of the books and guild support have been nil except for use in guildleves that still use the old recipes. I would like to see these books and support useful again.

For example, guild support could give crafting stats bonuses that are based on the level of support, ie. +2, +5, +10 to all crafting stats.

For the books, give them some stat bonuses when being uses to make their respective items. For example, the Tailoring book gives +2 Craftsmanship, +1 Magic Craftsmanship, and +3 Control for body items, while the Hatting book gives +1 Craftsmanship, +3 Magic Craftsmanship, and +1 Control for hats and hoods. And vary up the stat bonuses for the different books, do not make them +2 for all stats for example.

And if this means the value of the treatises increases, credit those players who have bought the old versions, remove those flags, and then let us buy the new versions. I don't think any players would complain about this, as it means these things still have some value going forward.

Regarding the use of guild marks, I believe some guild specifc equipment could be made available for purchase, which maybe gives stat bonuses, including to the main and off-hand tool statistics. For example, a ring specific to leatherworkers that gives +1 to the crafting stats or even just one of them, such as control, and +2 to INT and VIT.

And while some have expressed that we shouldn't be able buy some types of equipment for guild marks, I have to disagree. One of the great status symbols for FFXI crafters was the aprons, gloves, or glasses, because anyone who saw those, knew the player was a certain level in the craft, and knew they had to spend months of time getting the guild points required to purchase them. I think we can still have these purchasable items, or we need quests to obtain "artifact armor" versions, that give good stat bonuses.

I believe the above ideas will keep the guild marks and books relevant in FFXIV going forward.
