Scorched earth....I like.
I'd also like to see a special icon above the character for the first 20+ hours that they play to denote their jumped up status - so people know what level of play to expect.
This sucks cause I've been waiting for some mog station sales to get the moogle mount, zu mount, and the two new outfits. But if they add this potion, I might no longer be playing. *sighs* This really stinks...
Is it so hard to just give realm reborn dungeons more exp? That's better than jump potion..
Not...really.
In a way, you're damned if you do, damned if you don't. They are forcing you to do ARR content storyline either way. Experience can do oh so much but you're still going to be gated behind having to do all the content.
This alleviates the idea of forcing the player to jump the leveling grind and just blow through the ARR content unsynchronized, if they so choose.
It'll be a balance: Pay 60$ (going on a random number from another game that has the same system; I've no clue what their purchase point will be) and allow a user to play as fast as possible and plow through quest, or spend a fairly big amount of resources trimming down the fat.
And it comes down to that: There is a load of content for users having to go through to access the latest content. Period. And that is a bigger block than the experience is. Really, it's not my leveling that was an issue when I leveled my alt. It's the gating of content behind the MSQ.
(Also be noted that I have no issue with that. At all. While I wish we could skip content after having one character do it all, I'm fine with doing it with an alt.)
This have been suggested many times. Also, the MSQ is a geat way to get EXP. It is the amount of quests that people have to go through and certain features/content being locked behind quests is what worries people most.
I'm kinda curious how often jump potions are actually used by new players in other games. $60 (or whatever SE goes with) plus the cost of the game seems like a lot of money to drop up front for something you may not like and stick with.
I'm not bothered either way. I like questing and leveling so I'd never use this option (and honestly I'd prefer for SE to give players in a rush the option to skip quests rather than having the quests condensed or removed).
As for the interview as a whole the main thing that stood out to me was less Ascian involvement in Stormblood. I'm getting kinda tired of them being behind everything and I hope the expansion focuses more on the relationships between the people of Eorzea, the Garleans, Beast Tribes, ect.
I was too slow! But you're definitely not alone there.
I've got one friend who sighs pretty much every time they're on screen.

Am I the only one that's happy the Ascians won't be too involved in 4.0?
I'm honestly kinda sick of them.
I'd think for the "jump to 60" pots, they'd make them only usable once a character already has a job to 60 (note: character, not player). Granted, I predicted something like that for WoW's leveling potion, and was completely off the mark there. I can hope they won't do it here because of how important the story is to this game, but we shall see.
I actually hope they don't get rid of classes entirely. Several of the classes actually have better storyline and fantasy in their quests than their job counterparts, and I'd be sad to see them go.

Guys a jump potion doesnt matter really because so much content is already skipped now are done unsnyc anyway only players that wana learn will learn others will just get carried.
People seem to be ignoring the fact that most people who buy a potion already have a class at 60 have probably gotten a sample of what the class is like through palace of the dead and is just trying to trim the fat and not grind all the dungeons they've already grinded. and guess what having a class already at 60 is probably going to be a requirement before you can even buy said potion.
