what journey. if you call spaming leves and grinding in exp pt so many hours a day till you cap lvl then no i don't want that journey. this game lacks to much content to have a journey. just pointless grinds they seem to remove every other patch. at rate they adding content i would have to stop playing for 2 years to enjoy a journey. thread is pointless by time the real game gets here anyone reading this will have multiple 50s and skiped any "journey"

What is everyone's problem with putting a little bit of time into games.. I don't want to grind.. I want to hit cap.. really? In an mmo theres really only 4 things that hit me as fun..
    1. Community
    2. Economy
    3. Content
    4. The Journey..

by getting rid of the grind and the time put in, you lose that feeling of a tight-knit community, the economy is screwed up because everyone is cap meaning most low-mid core gear is not used as much, or inflated due to the low demand - high time input, content is rushed, all lower content seemingly becomes obsolete, and the journey is drastically shortened with the end goal being meager at the end of the day because everyone's gotten there so fast... 1 day is nuts 2-3 weeks is bad, 1-2 months I think is acceptable.. you earn your place, you meet people, and if its fun, people won't have a problem putting in the time...

funny thing about some of these post people want everything handed to them, reason theres so many oblivious people in a simple grind party theses days is just that.

they NEED to make a organized party system, jobs might do it but you know SE theses days. every kill should be earned or just give us 100K XP a hour sitting in town.

A lot of you people make me sick with your nonsense about not wanting to level up like in FFXI.
FFXI define what an RPG was about. It might have been long an tedious but the fact is, that was what MUD's were all about. You needed to earn your place at the top by putting in the time.
What we have today is masses of spoiled people who just want to compete with everyone on the same footing without having to put in the effort.
Why bother playing an RPG if all you're going to do is whine and complain about how something takes too long? The deconstruction of this genre has taken a turn for the worse.

Leveling up should never be a grind. IF you have ever played an FF prior to 11 you would know the game never forces you to stand in one area and grind, the only thing you had to work for in previous FF's was Gil, special armor, special spells, and special weapons. which is the current goal of FFXIV.

Nostalgia is a hell of a drug.

Who are you to define what an RPG is? People like you make me sick. The thought of someone having an opposing viewpoint is so foreign to you that you can't see beyond it.

yeah but get this ...there a tons of rpg's that come out, and they all used to come out trying to be different and good at same time. problem with mmo's is they all just making them for idiots with the biggest wallets. that doesn't define what a good rpg is either. a opinion on how people want to play is just that, and guess what there opinions on how they like it used to actually be part of the genre. i would say you wanked the rug from under there game play, how does that make you sick? that's like the man that takes some guys place at work cause he is on strike saying to you, you sicken me.

there needs to be mmo's made for all types of players, and guess what this is ffxiv, it came after ffxi ...witch had the style and gameplay they are praising. this isn't wow2, or blizzards next mmo where then we can say ohhh ok..what would you expect but this type of system. also to add on the bliz thing, diablo3 is adding a real player auction to sell there own gils and items for real cash, while diablo3 isn't a real mmo, if it does well i can bet bliz tries to add this system to it's next real mmo if it does well(witch it probably will). so next step would be that mmo's are going to "need" to make harder drop rates on items and create gameplay with carrot sticks cause it will be the only way to make them real money. so all of you flashing your wallets are probably not realizing the possible dooms that can come in the future. but i think i got little off topic and this is just a thought in my head on the steps these companies are taking to take every penny they can from you.

either way no journey = no fun, no progress = no point in playing anymore. i'm bout to hit 50 on everything and i'ma be forced to just not play anymore ... most people will stop after a few classes and crafts and do the same thing with the system that is in place now. mmo's always need some form of grind and ffxi did it the best ..in my opinion.

While Firon did love FFXI, I have to agree with Hanemakikaze. The journey from 1-75 was fun the first time but after a while it became boring, after getting 8 jobs to 75 the grind was tedious. Pre ToUA there was not much to do besides lvl up another class or endgame.

no time invested = a shooter, specially with all this all instanced stuff people be talking. no progress and journey = a short lived mmo, just like all the rest. don't say wow because really it's the exception only cause people have to run back to there cash crop.

while i do think ffxi's biggest problem was probably not being able to reel in new players cause of this, there needs to be a better way to get people to keep joining the game without killing the journey. ffxi actually felt like a rpg to me. it was the only mmo that did, weather it got grindy after a few jobs ...that is how all mmo's are after your first max class. you level the first one slow and take it all in, then the next one is probably for speed, after that it's whatever.

some people on this thread that argue bout the grind also help it's cause by testifying they stayed with ffxi for 5years or longer. ...that is the point, what other mmo have you ever played for 5years straight on one character. None i can almost guarantee for most people. all mmo's are going casual and easy, but all mmo's are dying out quick. even the wow clones for whatever reason rather then playing a new mmo with new content and things in it, they still run back to wow that they beat totally and completely a million times over? how's that work, guess no one likes new stuff to do less i'm missing something.

i've yet to see a mmo without some sort of grind, ffxi did theres very well in my opinion and like others said if they can find a middle way from ffxi and how long it took but keep all the progress to it, i would love this game and probably play it for another 5years easy. once this game starts to die, it's not wow, it will keep dying out like the rest.
