    yes, i do, but it seems the rest of the children like being spoon fed levels and then doing nothing else. to me the journey is what a mmo should be about. if you want to rush to max level grab a gameshark and your favorite rpg and have fun because mmo's aren't for you.

    Well said. It'll definitely be a matter of resources at this point, to see how much Square is willing to devote to doing Quest Chains vs. Guildleve Chains vs. nothing at all until 2.0.

    If most of it turns out to be throwaway work, then sadly, we may just be relegated to the same Single Quest-type scenarios we have now (a bit mundane, simple). But it's understandable.

    I think I'd lean towards giving us Quest Chains vs. Guildleve Chains. The reason being that for Guildleves, most people don't even bother reading the Story Text found at the Guildleve Counter any more. They'd probably just spam through it to rush and accept "yet another Guildleve for Broken Water" or whichever camp.

    At least with Side Quest Chains, you're actively looking for an NPC (usually around town in odd locations), and you're cognizant that you're doing something "different" than just a Guildleve.

    From that, I think even if SE devoted just 1 Quest Designer to constructing these Quest Chains, it'd provide some decent diversions until 2.0. For example:

    (very quick, rough example)

    * Quest Starter NPC at the Musketeer Guild reports that there have been strange happenings in the underground aquatic region of Casseopeia Hollow.
    * You go there and discover a roaming band of Undead Pirates transporting (something) out of the area.
    * You battle and defeat them.
    * [2nd Quest] 2nd NPC from the Musketeer Guild appears after the fight and reports that their advanced scouts have seen more of them heading off to South Bloodshore (Lower Beaches).
    * You head off out of the Hollow and discover mini-ambushes all along the way towards South Bloodshore.
    * Once at the Lower Beach area of South Bloodshore, you're faced with a harder battle with an Undead Pirate NM, Devious D'inak the Dreaded. :P (Devious D'inak can be a reskinned Undead model (already exists, just with a new Name and more abilities).
    * You defeat the NM and his helpers.

    * [3rd Quest] At this point, you hear a rumbling and a Musketeer Guild Advanced Scout (beaten and bloodied) runs out and screams about some "monstrosity" just behind him.
    * You progress further down South Bloodshore Beach (fighting some extra mobs)...
    * And end up discovering the "mini-Boss" which can be a reskinned Any Mob in the game (that already exists, so no extra modelling work).


    They could save most of the writing work by just relocating this series of events even after 2.0 World Redesign (just taking place in the new regions).

    Then again, if they'd rather put all their Quest Designers on 2.0, I understand also. If it ensures we'll get *real* meaningful, interesting Quest Chains to EXP and Level on, to enhance our Journey then, then I guess that's OK also (but a bit sad for us in the meantime).

    We'll see.

    Yeah, I would be fine with some quest chains, I'm just always going on about GuildLeves because I always felt they had a lot of potential but have been poorly designed and poorly excecuted. They seem to be staying as Content and we will probably see many more of them.

    I guess I am asking for a complete overhaul of the GuildLeve system which is probably too much to ask for but maybe Yoshi Claus is listening.

    I'm bumping this and also wanting a rep to answer something about this. Will we still have this journey in 2.0? I want something similar to this, just not as much (but still have) grind.

    me too, i'd like to know b4 i start paying for a year of broken mmo ..just to find out they keeping the pl'ing the way it is an still no real grinds in this game in 2.0. love to hear more about crystal towers too since it's all i care about from 2.0 too. lol

    Hi weeble, DeadRiser, Rath,

    I'd also love to hear about Yoshida-san's plans for leveling pacing, and the Journey for 2.0 as well. I think it's probably too far out at this point, but at the same time, if our intrepid Forum Reps have been able to ping Yoshida-san about various suggestions and systems for 2.0 (see the various responses we've gotten the last few weeks), then I think it's possible to get a general feeling from Yoshida-san on his thoughts for 2.0, for what we're asking about.

    At the very least, even if it remains super fast, at least visually the areas will be distinct. That's a huge improvement.

    But seriously, if you watch the dev responses, they very frequently bump threads themselves with an update once they've received a response from up high about a topic. This is true even for topics that didn't have a huge initial response from the playerbase. So there's really no need to bump - the devs have certainly seen this thread by now, so bumping isn't going to draw any more attention from that direction unless they receive a response about it.

    (And sorry if my original response seemed snarky, I didn't intend it to be that way, but that's the way it came across when I reread it.)
