Minion collectors should be climbing in Feast right now then, instead of complaining. But hey, they don't have to now, because SE is amazing and listens to their playerbase.

So I'm going to use this thread to reach out to SE and convince them that 1.0 rewards should come back. Is that so wrong?

You know somewhere out there someone else bought a winning lotto ticket that you didn't. Perhaps you should go tell them how you're entitled to their winnings.
