Are the Miqo'te naming guidelines not a thing in the Japanese version?
The Japanese names in this particular case can more or less fit the Keeper guidelines; Kuro is pronounced differently to Khloe but recognisable as more-or-less the same word (Kuro is クロ while Khloe would be クロエ). Perhaps it's a pet name or something. They could have written it any way they liked in roman letters to make it sound more Miqo'te-style rather than like a real name but that's the team's call. Are the Miqo'te naming guidelines not a thing in the Japanese version?
Likewise, they could have written Shiro in a way that fit the guidelines in English easily enough - I'm sure Keeper names exist which are more-or-less close to Shiro phonetically - but they decided that making a cutesy pair of names was more important than consistency between languages. I wish the localisation team could occasionally remember that a lot of people play in mixed language groups![]()
