Forums need a downvote or thumbs down system so we could see how many forum-goers don't want Viera too. Like myself.
WE NEED VIERA. GIMMEGIMMEGIMMEGIMMEGIMMEGIMME! OR I WILL NUKE EORZEA ONCE MORE!I need my Viera retainer slave~
Viera is still by far the most request race in game regardless of people saying is not to make themselves feel better (which is only the odd 3 or 4 that no one listen to them)
I'm not holding my breath for Viera to be introduced soonish .. BUT but! Return to Ivalice would be the perfect way to introduce the race into the game. Specially having XII out right now.
The timings of FFXII and The new 24 man raid seems too fishy.
Are we gonna see familiar faces? Are we gonna see Viera like Fran?
Can honestly not wait for return to ivalice info.
No, it can't and this isn't just me being anti-Viera. Think about it, how can someone who is just starting the game start as a Viera when the Ivalice raid technically doesn't "start" until after you beat the Stormblood storyline. The only way for Viera to be playable is if they already exist on Hydaelyn and to not make their sudden appearance to Eorzea jarring, SE would need to make them start in their own city/village/town (up until the Airship envoy quest maybe) and then have them go to Eorzea.
Of course, SE would need to change the story slightly as it would be annoying to have characters not show interest/curiosity about seeing a race not native to their land (it would also be nice if they did that for the Au Ra as well).
See, that's the nail on the head. Nobody thought Au'Ra strange in the least (while it was very strange for me playing an Au'Ra to meet Yugiri for the first time and have her introduce you to the concept of their race). So why would Viera be any different? As long as their introduction to the story as a whole is smoothly done that is. I agree that if the Viera were not native to Hydaelyn prior to the events of Stormblood then some shenanigans would have to happen and nobody likes splitting the timeline, but is there any reason they cannot come from somewhere we haven't explored yet? We've only seen two of the continents, there are likely more out there and I would hope they come from one of them.
I do agree though, having a few more lines of written dialog about people thinking that the Au'Ra or any other race that comes in would be nice to see in the ARR content at least. But it's not quite the straw that breaks the camel's back unless the race themselves is introduced in a way that makes them impossible to help with the events of prior expansions.

Didn't they introduce Au Ra with yugiri? When no one knew the existence of Au Ra by then? I don't see the issue of introducing Viera in the same way of different that Au Ra was introduced.
That's why I mentioned that return to Ivalice would be the perfect timing to be introduced
The only problem with Viera being introduced with Return to Ivalice is where it falls in the timeline. Yugiri introducing the Au'ra was less of an issue because it happened in ARR, even less of an issue because Doma was a confirmed place on the map. If Ivalice suddenly pops into reality because of the events of Stormblood and Viera were not native to Hydaelyn prior to that happening...that's an issue. Because that means either you'd either need to put the Viera behind the MSQ and not allow you you Fantasia into one until you've completed the quests, or you have to alter the timeline so that Ivalice appearing threw the Viera backwards in time.Didn't they introduce Au Ra with yugiri? When no one knew the existence of Au Ra by then? I don't see the issue of introducing Viera in the same way of different that Au Ra was introduced.
