Viera as the next new race~ Show your support

Considering it was being showcased with all of the other Au Ra concepts and labelled in the art book as such (viera, demonic/draconic (male and female even split up), viangaa, and beastly.

That artwork was introduced at a livestream at Nico Nico Tokaigi in 2015, and esplicitly defined as concept art for a possible Viera race that was actually considered for Heavensward, but set aside in favor of the Au Ra.

This is the original art. It doesn't mention the Au Ra at all, and the Japanese text also only mentions the Viera.

Not to bug you, Yoshida. But I'm a big fan of FFXII's Fran. The Viera race was considered for Heavensward but never included and Stormblood marks the second time they've been left out. Should I give up hope?

I don't think you should give up hope. I mean we're hoping Final Fantasy XIV will have a very long lifespan. With that being said. Fran and the Viera race have a very high heel and trying to depict that in Final Fantasy XIV is challenging. They won't be able to wear any shoes that exist in Eorzea right now.

Eorzea is only one continent of this world... why talk of the continent instead of the world? especially since stormblood make us move far from Eorzea, going to orthard.

but that not the most important, if it was something that will never happend or are not sure to make it happend... he will have not said : "I don't think you should give up hope."
it's too much like something that can be interpreted like a confirmation by the community is far too dangerous to say this without be sure to have something behind. because this sole sentence have give a lot of hope, and people will want it more.. that kinda weird. since generally when he is not sure if something can happend... he don't talk of it.

i'm like the other it's not IF the viera will come, but WHEN the viera will come at this point, this sole comment of his part have get too much hope for not be backed a bit by him.

It had also been shown in Las Vegas 2014 with the rest of the Au Ra art when the race was first revealed, and they talked on how they went about deciding which look to go with. This was also when people largely believed the joke/ misinformation that the au ra were also some form of voidsent, like the succubi. 'Cause people like to report on things that will get high attention, but often omit context. (Like Yoshia's poll on a new race that mentioned Viera is a great example. He never asked if players wanted Viera, yet people will say that he did.)

Uh no. This one wasn't shown in Las Vegas. The Viera concept was shown for the first time in Chiba in 2015.

But regardless of menial details and timing, it was explicitly presented as a preliminary concept for a viera race, not for the au ra.

Again. That just means that they were part of the process of designing the new race, after which Au Ra was selected. It was explicitly presented as a concept for a Viera race (two concepts actually, since there was a tall one and a small one). It is unrelated to the Au Ra in any way other than the fact that they competed for the same slot.

While being in the artbook for Heavensward, which becomes quite silly if they, as you put it, knew it wasn't being put in the game in the near future.

Oh dear, look it's just being lumped under the category after the fact. For that matter the Viangaa you mentioned was an april fool's joke they made around that time. It came about because of the requests for Viera and YoshiP's desire for something more reptilian/beastly... so they combined them as a joke.

Iirc, people originally speculated back then that Au'ra had more to do with dragons given where the plot seemed to be leading (Shiva, Ishgard, HW dragons theme) however, from what I remember it was YoshiP who came out and said they weren't related to dragons and closer related to voidsent.

I still support this or ANY new race being added. It really doesnt have to be Viera in my opinion, but if thats what the majority wants then I'm okay with that.
I love seeing new jobs/races/character customization added to MMO's. Keeps them feeling fresh and new and allows player more uniqueness and variety.

I'd be in love with playable child versions of the existing races also (who doesnt love Khloe). To an extent they already exist, but creating all new animations for 5 or 6 races would be one hell of an undertaking....

On a side not.. could Hyur get horns to turn them into Padjal?

They will never add playable children or playable child-like races in FFXIV. It is a PR and legal nightmare to deal with due to people being creeps and laws regarding violent depections against children.
