Why did we lose some much of mages

Because of the third mage class incoming .... I think ...

Following the revamp of class, its true it seems normal that some actions and spells disapeared or changed but there is a lot of them missing : light and darkness, debuffs, -na spells, skills, water spells, ws, ....

With all those actions missing and the one they can still create, they can make one hell of a new class/job ... even two

Yoshi-P said himself that the game lack mages and if you play for exemple CON hl you can choose 10 actions from other class but from THM the max you can take is only 8 non exclusive. True you can take from disciple of war too but still the choice now is thin ... until another mage class.

Although we lose a lot and i am sad to lose the current spells that i love, i think it will be fun to play ... even funnier (in yoshi-p we trust)

Will the third class be Arcanist ? And its job : red mage, scholar ? Will there be warrior\mage class ?

I am so excited ! Are you ?

It's all but been announced yes, Yoshi pretty much confirmed that the next class will be a mage class, most likely Arcanist.

Is there any source stating it will be before 2.0? I'm curious to read it.

Gamer Escape: The next classes that are supposed to be coming are Arcanist and Musketeer. Are they going to make it in before 2.0? Is there anything you can tell us about that and the jobs they’ll get access too? I think I heard Arcanist will get access to a Geomancer job?

Yoshida: Currently the class balance is… there are a lot of attacker type classes and not enough caster classes. So our first priority if we’re adding new classes, is to start with caster classes and the second would be to add a pet class. Because right now there are no pet classes. If you talk about MMOs almost all of them have their pet class and so we need a pet class and we want to beef up the choices on the casting class side. Those are our top priorities. After that we can think about adding new attacker classes. The talk that’s going about saying that Arcanist and Musketeer are going to be next… those might not necessarily be the ones that are next. Yes they do appear in the scenarios and it looks like the foundations are there, but whether those will be the next ones or not, it again, depends more on… we’re looking at what the game needs rather than what’s already there. So if it means starting up something new so we can fill that, then yes, we’ll do that. As far as the job system and what jobs will be attached to them… we don’t know. As for the timing, we still don’t know if it’s going to be before 2.0. There’s a chance it could be before, and there’s a chance that it could be after.

Limsa Lominsa clearly has two guilds for classes that are not currently in the game -- the Arcanists who work on the docks and the Musketeers that make up the Knights of the Barracuda. These guilds and classes are referenced in quests but are not accessible by players. Are they still on the table for inclusion, or have they been moved off of the development schedule?

Because I got on to the project in last December after a lot of decisions had already been made, there was the decision on the table to bring those two classes in after launch. However, once I got on to the project, it was my job to re-assess the situation, and we decided that rather than bring in something just because it was there, it was more important to look at what the game needed and bring that in instead.

If you look at the game right now, the balance is more toward physical attack classes with very few caster classes. Looking at MMOs, we realize that this is not a good balance to have, so the first thing that we're going to be doing after introducing the job system is probably introduce another caster class because that's what the game needs. We realize that currently, the game is lacking in a lot of crowd control type of spells, and we need these to make battles more strategic. To introduce these types of spells, we think one obvious way is to introduce a new caster class that's able to handle them.

However, concerning the Musketeer class: It happens to be that just yesterday I was doing a Japanese interview and that same subject came up. Some day we really do want to get these sorts of Musketeer classes into the game because we think this is really interesting. It's not like we've cancelled it altogether; it's just that we needed to prioritize.
