Please we need to address Palace of the Dead solo disconnects

Hello, I would like to bring to light the dreaded pain that is getting disconnected while running Palace of the Dead alone.

See what happens currently is that the moment you disconnect from the server you are kicked immediately from the dungeon and you are given a Party KO point. You get no possible way of recovering the run ends and you start back at floor 1/51.

I understand the idea that disconnecting and waiting to be removed can be exploited if a run were to go sour and a player wishes to redo a floor, BUT PLEASE can it not be implemented that a player has some sort of countdown to jump back into their run?

I was able to get to floor 120 as a DRK and knowing at any moment my run could've been ruined by a DC absolutely terrified me beyond means, even more so to know that you don't even get scored for where you get disconnected.

I agree to a en extent that they should address this. But as a low priority, mainly bcz its not attacking the main problem.
The best solution is to work on having a steady and reliable connection. And thats on your side.

Correction: That's on his providers side. It's not like he can just check the cables any time and make sure they're in good order. Best he can do is to try and find a provider that is doing a good job at checks and maintenance, everything else is out of his hands. And that in turn depends on what options are even available - rural areas tend to have less (and worse) options than urban areas. And if you try to solve that issue on your own, it gets a bit much individual work for something that can be resolved for everyone regardless of individual connection with a few lines of code.

Agree with OP. There is no other content in the game close having the damage that can be done (worst case 15+ hours of careful work completely undone) by just a single connection blip, which anyone regardless of their internet stability has from time to time.

Absolute RUBBISH. The connection problems with FFXIV lie primarily in two places, one being the Datacentres that are hired by SE to run the game, the second being Level 3, a top tier Internet network service that provides backbone connectivity to people like those who run SE's Datacentres.

I know from experience that Level 3 would not even speak to a gamer who is having problems. In fact, they are unlikely to even be responsive to an ISP, unless it was someone major like Time Warner or British Telecom. They would work with SE as they're a huge multinational enterprise. All this boils down to one fact - if your connection problems only happen with FFXIV & you have done all you can at your end then there's really only one person who can sort it out - Square Enix.

I used to suffer from disconnects often, especially during heavy traffic times.
Then I updated the firmware on my router.

I have never disconnected since then.

It wouldn't change much, unless you DC while not fighting and no patroling enemies are on the current floor.
Else you'll be killed before the game realizes that you completely dc'ed anyway.

If you're in a boss fight, does the fight reset (exploit) or does it continue and you can skip mechanics like room wide AoEs by dc'ing (exploit)?

If the only player of an instance dc's, what happens to pulled enemies? Do they reset?

There a lot of things that are on your side. First one, check bandwith consumption from your house then migrate to a wired connection if your using wi-fi.
Update the firmware of your router, check the junction points of your Internet wires to ensure they are clean and safely connected.
Then you could call the isp, they could be messing with your ip and you can tell them to configure it properly.
If you live in a rural zone you have problems with your QoL whole ingame not just PoTD.

But of course if SE its up to help they can do it. They should, but it would be time demanding
