Exactly it will be easier... but people are still whining and complaining about it when they are going ahead and improving on it.. and you guys axe it down like its not welcome to the game... Its okay to type out improvements they could make with the system.. but saying " This system they are planning to implement sucks (basically what your saying)" mine as well tell them to not do anything about it

Being the LS system as it is now, I'd rather find it more helpful to have it like in FF11 than how it is now. If I don't have it on, I don't see what's going on in my other LS and therefore less hassle to change LS, answer or ask something and switch back. Also avoiding all this unintuitive denomitation on every line head LS1 LS2 etc, I have to change colors to diference well enough what's chatting in what LS. Yes I know I can hide some chat etc, but it's still not intuitive and not helpful at all.
I see the intention behind it though on how LS chat is set now, and it's great to be able to be there for all LSs you have, even if you only have one equipped or even none. But then I must agree with the majority on this: if SE wants us to communicate better and gave us this system, the logical step would be to add not only a text command that will let me change LSs when I'm synthing/gathering (I presume it will work like this too, otherwise there's no sense adding this), but also talk in a diferent LS than I have currently equipped with a special text command too, like someone stated before (equipped LS no text command, unequipped LS with text command).
If they gave us the freedom to read all what's going on, they should give us the facility to answer easily too. It's a step forward on ingame communication indeed, most games only allow one guild and you can't just change back. But imho, it's just not complete and intuitive enough to easen communication as of yet.
I'm not whining though, don't misunderstand me, I'm happy that this is being done even before they planned ot touch anything of the LS system, I'm only trying to state my opinion as constructive critism.

IMO it's a waste of resources devoting time and code to that function.

wow, super hostility and immature behavior for the lose.

What you're asking for is essentially what's being done- the "equipped" linkshell is the one you're sending a message to- so it's only a matter of pressing the hotkey for the linkshell to send a message to and sending it. Are people forgetting you can always hear any of your linkshells already? The fact is, SE's implementation is actually more efficient than your proposed one.

The only real distinction here is that the icon over your head is going to change for a second.

This implementation is still a drastic improvement, yet players apparently feel so entitled that they can shoot them down for coming up with it.

    *press hotkey*
    *enter message*
    *press hotkey*

Total number of buttons pressed is actually lower than if you typed "/ls# chat message" by 2 buttons. On top of this, if you want to send multiple messages, that's even more keypresses saved:

    *hotkey for LS1*
    *chat message 1*
    *chat message 2*
    *chat message 3*
    *hotkey for LS2*
    *chat message 4*
Total keypresses = 2 + number of letters in chat message

    /ls1 *chat message 1*
    /ls1 *chat message 2*
    /ls1 *chat message 3*
    /ls2 *chat message 4*
Total keypresses = 16 + number of letters in chat message

The more message you send to the same LS, the more efficient SE's method becomes.

In patch 1.22 the text command “/equiplinkshell (/el)” will be added. As a sub-command you can indicate “1-8” or input the linkshell name (in quotes) and it will be possible to switch to that linkshell.

Also, we will be adding the below items to the Main Menu under Configuration → Keyboard → Other, and it will be possible to assign them to the key of your choice.

    • Switch to your next linkshell
    • Switch to linkshell 1
    • Switch to linkshell 2
    • Switch to linkshell 3
    • Switch to linkshell 4
    • Switch to linkshell 5
    • Switch to linkshell 6
    • Switch to linkshell 7
    • Switch to linkshell 8
    • Unequip your current linkshell
    Hi Camate,

As ChiefCurrahee has stated, what we need is the ability to talk to any of our LSs on the fly, similar to "/p (/party)" or "/t (/tell)" etc.

And we need this ability so that we can do it *while Crafting* or *Gathering* or in the middle of Combat.

This type of functionality is far more needed than just assigning a Hot Key to Macro Equip a new Linkshell.

Please pass along our concern to the Development Team.

As I stated, the upcoming addtions make this possible.

How is pressing a hotkey to talk to another LS on the fly any different than using a text command to do it? I already established in my post above that binding a hotkey to each LS actually lets you chat to different linkshells quickly and easily with fewer keypresses than what all of the people raging about this feature have proposed.

Not really sure how <insert hotkey of choice here> *enter chat message* is any slower or less convenient than "/ls# enter chat message."

This type of functionality is far more needed than just assigning a Hot Key to Macro Equip a new Linkshell.
a Hot Key to Macro Equip (whats with the unnecessary caps?) a new Linkshell gives you exactly the functionality you are requesting. I don't get how you can't see this.

Because you can hear all of your linkshells at one time, the only distinction "equipping" another linkshell has is which linkshell you're sending a message to.

You can't use macro while crafting/gathering which was the main source of the complain.

Solution: get all 600 people from your 8 LS's into one LS and you have no need to change your shield at all.

I'm glad they're still making people change shells to participate in the new shell's conversations. If you take that away its.... its.... idk... but it takes even more away from LS's than the system we have now does.

They're giving you hot keys. (well, both actually- I would expect the hotkeys to work when macros wouldn't.)

What we need is the OP's idea, been asking for it since day one. Text commands will be faster than opening the menu every time so i guess it's decent but it's still not what we asked for.
