Dragon Breath yes please <3
Retired FFXI character: Ranok of Sylph
NO WYVERN YES. lol this is how I thought of a dragoon. Acting like a dragon/wyvern with lots of fire attacks. Can't wait to see some of these new skills!
Looks like that Dragon's breath skill that has been hiding in the dats is going to get some time in the sun.

what im wondering is if
THM Abl. 5
Reduces MP cost of next attack magic spell by half, and restores MP when cast is complete.
and
THM Abl. 3
Gradually increases magic crit rate. Effect fades upon a successful crit.
work with it ><
Probably "No." to this because the description specifies "spell".
POSSIBLY, because if the breath attack is designated as "magic" damage, then it would have a magic crit chance as well. This one also doesn't specify that it has to be a "spell", just magic damage.
you do realize that no pet would come til 2.0 right? anyways its interesting what they are doing, though probably not enough to get me to start paying for the game after i fiddled with it.
For those that think Dragoons having a breath attack is weird, know this before you slam:
Games w/ Dragoon that use a pet wyvern IN GAMEPLAY: 2 (FFIX, FFXI)
Games w/ Dragoon that use breath attacks: 3 (FFTA, FFTA2, FFXII:RW)
So Dragoons that have breath attacks are more "traditionally FF-ish" than ones with pet wyverns :P
Probably neither because this "Dragon Breath" is a job ability. We'll be locked out of most other class abilities, which will probably include both of these.
That, and as noted above, probably won't be considered a spell.

But honestly, I like the notion of not having a Wyvern this time around it goes back and forth between the two option in all the games where a dragoon is present, starting with the Dragoon's very first appearance in FFII (yes Kain was not the first named Dragoon lol, Richard Highwind was, his son Kain Highwind [later renamed in Dawn of Souls FF1&2 combo pack]) And he DID have a Wyvern, but it was a mount and not a fighting companion iirc.
Then in FFIII the real 3 not NAFF3, the Dragoon was without the Wyvern even being mentioned, in 4 we didn't see any mention of Kain having his own Wyvern, in FFV there was the Dragoon job which had the ability "Lance" (later in the series Lancet) where an ethereal wyvern would appear for a moment and give you HP/MP from an enemy, arguably saying that in 5 there was a Wyvern that fought with you, but not along side you.
In FFVI, VII, and VIII all had iconic characters that were "Dragoon" abilities but never actually had jobs to sort one from the other due to their systems so I would have to say those shouldn't count towards anything. In FFIX Freya had the power to use Dragon Skills but never called a Wyvern to her aid (although she was already like a Dragon creature thing lol so you could argue you had a dragon at your side...) In FFX we didn't get a Wyvern, but Kimahri was definitely a DRG, however following the same idea from above with 6-8, 10 must fall into the "cannot group" category because of the freedom of progression in X. XI obviously had a pet Wyvern AND you could use Breath Attacks (see lv90 DRG) assuming the Wyvern was alive. XII falls into the same category as 6/7/8/10. Dragoon did not exist in XIII technically, but Fang did have all the iconic Dragoon abilities and if you played as her you could summon a Dragon to aid you (mechanical as he was, Bahumat would still be considered a Dragon)
FFT had Dragoon but you had no present Wyvern/Dragon to aid you (although you did learn Dragonheart, which I always assumed was a Dragon taking your place in death so you could live but to each his own here I suppose...), FFTA and FFTA2 had Dragoons that could use breath attacks. FFXII:RW had a Dragoon that could also use Breath attacks. And finally from what I have played of the CC series is that there are no distinct jobs. Going further into in development games: vs13 has a Dragoon also little is known about what she can do.
tl;dr version:
No Dragoon in game:
I, VI, VII, VIII, X, XII, CC series
Dragoon in game:
II, III, IV, V, IV, XI, XIII, vsXIII, XIV, T, TA, TA2
Games with Dragoon + Wyvern/Dragon:
II, V, IX, XI, XIII
Games with only Dragoon:
III, IV, T, TA, TA2
Games that could possibly have Dragoon + Wyvern/Dragon:
XIV, vsXIII
All that being said its really pretty even as it stands now, instead of seeing a Wyvern/Dragon in XIV that aids in battle I would like to see Dragoon get a specific Dragon mount (of course allow other jobs to get Dragon mounts as well) but give the Dragoon a special looking one, I mean we are the Dragon Knights...
