I've seen someone running around looking rather similar to an alt of mine I was planning to transfer to Balmung at some point - exact same skin shade, same clan, same hair color, same eyes, everything - the only differences being they were smaller height, different hair style, and had limbal rings. But ugh the exact same face options and everything.
I actually got a bit sad because my alt is very important to me and I've tried very hard to make his look unique. Given the limited character customization options, I know this was bound to happen, but still kind of sucks sometimes when you run into someone with nearly the exact same everything. xD
I have a scary feeling that as (possibly) more people respond to this thread, there will be a (perhaps) alarming amount of mimics in stories.![]()

I can't say I've seen anyone look the exact same as me. I've seen people that look similar but with different skin tones etc. But with so few facial options that is a given. I remember being bummed out when I found out a player on another server had my exact name/surname. (I made the name up myself.) So I can imagine how awkward it must feel if you know someone has copied your look too.
It happened to me in WoW once, I had a random player run over and tell me how much they loved my Blood Elf and my name. (Kaelah.) Then they log out, and not long after I see a Blood Elf come up to me that looks the exact copy of mine, with the name "Caelah"... it was kinda creepy.
~Quit moping, get hoping~
Yes, he works in the Skysteel Manufactory. I almost had a schism when I first ran into him. XD
Yeah, on my server (Japanese) I'm lucky to even see any other elezen for days/weeks at a time, let alone male ones. Let alone Duskwights. I have a pretty popular face and hairstyle, so I've always expected that there's a chance I'd meet some doppelgangers... but I underestimated the cultural preferences for cute girls and paler skin tones. I'm sure I have some twins on other servers, somewhere.
On clones, back in FFXI I was (for a time) reasonably well known in the fan community and I had some people deliberately copy my (unpopular) looks and name on other servers. Which was weird. Not much chance of that happening here since I tend to keep to myself and act like a jerk.
A friend actually found mine the other day, but on Shiva. While looking up my profile on Lodestone for minions, he finds another toon with the same name, and asks if I have an alt of Shiva. I told him no, and I look it up myself. Not only is it the same name(which if just that isn't anything since it was a generated name sort of), but then also a Xaela with the curved horns. I was surprised, certainly enough, but it looks as if it may have been a placeholder alt as they were only LV1. If by chance was a completely new player though, then that's just funny.
I used to play Rogadyn female, with the same hair and skin coloration that I have now on Au Ra. You'd think that'd be a sure fire combination for a unique look - but eventually I started seeing another Rogadyn female with very similar hair and skin color, who even used the hairstyle I favored. You just can't win!
So far, I haven't found any dopplegangers for my Au Ra.
Nope. Closest ive seen is people with the same facetype. Not many folks appreciate the beauty of Highlander Face #1
Never
By the way this happens in real life too so it's not FFXIV's fault.
