Just warn them that you, too, have Netflix and no time constraints. Even if you're bluffing.

If that doesn't work, actually do find something to fill up the three minutes with, and include that time in what you've said aside for the duty, as sad as that might seem.

Yep, when it happens to me I just turn to one of my other monitors and carry on. If you're gonna make me wait, I'm gonna fill my time so I'm still engaged. Though I like the idea that after a certain amount of time has passed you get an annoying beeping sound effect, but the trolls will only mute their sound so that they don't hear it. They probably listen to their own music as well so just have the entire game muted in Windows sound mixer.

Oh and for the record, I have 3 monitors. I can watch something on YouTube while keeping Discord open for conversations while also keeping an eye on the game to see if they do roll. Trust me, you aren't getting past me that easily.

As I'm sure you are well aware, it takes more than one person to be able to kick a player from a duty, so in all those instances there were at least two people agreeing they'd be better off without you tanking.

It's mostly because people have a priority of things to get. That's nature with weekly lockouts.

Assuming you're in A9 and want a bolt and would take a chain as booby prize.
The loot is: pedal, pedal, chain, bolt.

Now you would pass on the pedals and roll on the bolt first. If you hit a 90+, you sure won't roll on the chain before everyone else rolled on the bolt.
Because if you roll on both you may end up with the chain, instead of a bolt just because everyone rolled/passed on the chain first.

Now there's this other person who needs a chain and would take a bolt as booby prize...

Yes, and for this situation there are time frames. As there are for loot rolls. Those are balanced between "People who willingly wait with their rolls" and "People who unwillingly wait with their rolls" (Cutscenes, DCs, quick Aryala to check stats again, discussion about loot [more likely in fixed groups]). Hurt the one group, hurt the other.

Last week joined Alex NM runs but I had my loots already. It happened that I was semi afk around that time and I didn't realise everyone was still waiting on my roll until 3 min after the chests got opened D:
I mean I couldn't roll anyway it should just auto-pass then if I am locked out from rolls >_>

I honestly like this system, its one of the few things WoW does well is the whole personal loot system, and so it's not always garanteed loot add gil and tomes into the mix to RNG it up abit.

Exactly. If I only need a shaft and there's only one up for rolls, there's a chance someone else in the party rolled on EVERYTHING and maybe rolled a 99 on the shaft. Since I didn't roll shaft yet, he/she may have won on another roll and canceled out the chance to win the shaft. I don't think this is bad manners or cheating the system, its just increasing your odds against people that don't care what loot they get. If EVERYONE was after the shaft, this wouldn't work.

edit: I don't wait the 5 whole minutes because I'm impatient too. I probably wait 60 seconds or until everything that I passed on was checked off the list.

This is not the 1st time Roll Squatters was brought up. This was my solution on the previous thread about this

1st 30 seconds, you have access to roll 1 to 99, next 30 seconds you can only roll 1 to 89, next 30 seconds 1 to 79 and so on. By the time you get to the last 30 seconds of the 5 minutes, you can only roll 1 to 9. Perfect solution against roll squatters.

I concur with a Roll Timer reduced 60secs is more then enough time for someone to lot an time. Lately people have refused to pass on lots to grief few players especially at the end of a run.

I don't understand why this is unfair. Impolite? That's debatable. When you can do it as well, then it's not unfair. It is human nature to try to game the system. It's a trait that allows us to think outside of the box, and can often lead to innovative ideas or highlight flaws within a system. Don't get your panties in a bunch when it works against you. You have the same ability, fight back!

Yes, it can be frustrating, but do you know what is even more frustrating? Doing something 100x times and still not getting your drop. When you could have been a little bit smarter and gotten your drop by gambling on other people's impatience.
