Thancred's Eye Color

If you've done MSQ through 3.4, you might have noticed that Thancred's eye color changed twice. The original color, hazel, changed when he was dumped out of the aether flow. At that time we knew Y'shtola was blind due to the whole event of escaping from the end if the 2.x story, and her eyes were the milky white associated with blindness. When we find Thancred, he is not blind, but his eyes (yes even the one under the patch) are a whitish-blue. The only explanation we get is that due to the time in the aether flow, Thancred was unable to use aether (i.e. can't teleport). We are led to assume that eye color change is due to that. At the beginning of patch 3.4 though, we see Thancred with his old eye color again. Nothing is ever said within the story as to why this is. So, what happened? Did the ill effects of the aether wear off? Can he use aether/magic again? Was the color change a mistake? Was there ever supposed to be a color charge in the first place?

What 3.4 actually did was change his eyes up again - Thancred's current character model is that his right eye is brown and his left eye, the one he usually keeps hidden, is white. (You can check this for yourself if you re-watch the cutscene for "As It Once Was", when Thancred takes off his helmet he'll reveal both eyes)

I'm guessing they'll consider this the 'fixed' version of Thancred's eyes; the left eye was always meant to be damaged, that's why they put the eye-patch on that side, but the right eye was meant to be alright so was kept uncovered.

As to his inability to use magic, as far as I recall the damaged eye was unrelated to that? If I remember his side-text correctly it was more a consequence of being dumped naked and unarmed into a forest full of bears. His lack of magic is represented instead by his sudden aging-up, after having looked 18 for a decade and a half he now looks his real age of 32.

^ YEP! I remember this too.

I think SE may have made an error for the eye colors because usually they give an exclamation for the characters' change of appearance; since they didn't then, yep, it's an error or maybe they were thinkin' "they won't notice, hehehe.."

His EN text is vague but it sounds more like he's deflecting your concerns than he's faking an injury;

"I know what you're thinking, but really, you needn't worry. It will only lend credence to my tales of heroism. Besides, battle scars are to maidens what loose morals are to gentlemen. A definite bonus."

It's why I refer to the eye as damaged rather than blinded.

The quest is "Dreams of the Lost" but unfortunately it's not cutscene text, it's one of those missable pieces of dialogue you get if you talk to them between quest steps.

So I did not remember Thancred's eyes being different colors in "As it Once Was" so I re-watched in CS in game and FJerome is right--they are. I looked up the same CS on youtube, however, and both of his eyes were white when the scene was first released. So as was stated this looks like an error that was later corrected, which is probably what is causing people's confusion. Given the correction and his dialogue I'd agree that Thancred probably is blind in his left eye now.

I recall that his eyes where not dual colored in the scene with Krile while he was disguised, and being slightly confused as he had made it out like his eye was damaged and scarred.... Yet he showed no sign of it there.

I need to rewatch the scene now.
