All fun and games until you realize you threw them on a retainer. Then you feel like everyone else who did something like this.
Last I checked, you didn't lose other relic items not in the Key Items section when you abandoned relic quests.

Given that you can purchase them with tomes I am pretty sure they won't ever end up in your Key Items anyway.

I suspect there is a reason behind this one being so short.

Every other relic step is like this, a grinding step then an easy step, grinding step, etc.

The Singing Clusters are not key items. But, they're also not the items you take back to Azys Lla. Upon handing the 50 Clusters in, you get a pair of items that DO go into the Key Items. Those may be what the TC lost.
