They are either saving them for a new class/job or for later on down the road with BLM quests/merit point-like system.
Seeing as how I never got past lvl 42 in FFXI (I feel I should say this b4 someone starts getting mad at me: It wasn't my choice to stop there. My computer broke and the next computer I got wasn't mine it was the family computer so I couldn't play FFXI on it) what is the merit system? I have heard people complain about it a LOT.
It was a system where once you reached 75 you got limit points instead of Experience points, and every 10,000 Limit Points you would automatically earn a Merit Point in which you could redeem at your Mog House for various/personalized upgrades to your Job and/or general stats.
People didn't like them to much because:
1) You could only have 10 Merits total before you HAD to upgrade your character
2) it was 10,000 limit points for 1 merit point which was steep back in the day
3) Some of the upgrades, cost a lot more than what they were worth (especially the higher tiers of upgrading)
Now and days in XI you get exp so fast its nothing to worry about lol.
Oh, I see. Yeah, lets not put that in FFXIV plz.It was a system where once you reached 75 you got limit points instead of Experience points, and every 10,000 Limit Points you would automatically earn a Merit Point in which you could redeem at your Mog House for various/personalized upgrades to your Job and/or general stats.

Both CNJ and THM have a sleep spell locked to them. Why not just give THM the sleep spell since it has the sleep AoE on BLM then make the sleep spell exclusive to DoM. Then CNJ Mag 7 can be free to be something else, like shell or water.
Where has it been said they jobs can't use cross-class abilities?PLease don't forget that Classes > Jobs at the same time Jobs > Classes.
Its all circumstantial if its just me and two friends in a party doing leves or something along those lines then I am going to probably suggest we all be classes since we will have the most freedom to equip ANY NON-EXCLUSIVE ability/spell/weapon skill that could potentially make us stronger and able to do said content.
Vs
If I am in a full party I will probably suggest we all be our Jobs since they are more specialized and we have the man power needed to not have to spread out our abilities.
Because don't forget a Dragoon (job) will probably not be able to equip any of the healing spells/abilities, while the Lancer (class) will be able to. (See now, where the class is better than the job?) On the other hand Dragoon (job) gets access to special abilities that no other job can use, so in a big party setup wherein you won't need those healing spells because you have people covering it already, you can afford to be a job instead of class to dish out even more damage.
They both have very equal pros and cons. And if you think that people are going to demand jobs for bigger events/battles, then you are probably correct, but does that mean it will be 100% required. No, just make your own party, but I can see large group events being job driven while small group events being class driven.
From what we've heard, I haven't seen anything to suggest that jobs loose anything from their respective class, just that they enhance a specific aspect of that class to a given role.
they've been saying this:
Jobs are specialized party geared alternatives to their counter-part of classes. I can look it up for you but I am pretty certain that Yoshi-P himself stated that Jobs are more specialized meaning which they get access to new special abilities but are unable to use other classes abilities in turn.
Hence Jobs = large parties
Classes = smaller parties/solo
Like I said I can look it up for you, but it will have to wait till tomorrow when I get some more free time on my hands.
Edit: Just to clarify, a job will not lose out on its class's ability. IE: DRG will be able to use all the LNC abilities, since its a specialization of that class, however, DRG will probably not be able to use all or any of the THM/CNJ abilities while LNC will be able to.
Well there was this....
Which was in this interview http://jpgames.de/2011/10/jpgames-de...naoki-yoshida/For example, paladin will be a really special job for tanking. To make sure that he gets those abilities, he will need do more different quests to get those abilities. You are going to protect others, but that’s not all. You have the marauder as a background class before you become a paladin. Those kind of class abilities will be connected to the paladin job. Even if you had more classes in the past, these are not related to the paladin and can’t be used.
I can try and look through more of the interviews and find more if you really need me to...
Pretty much the way it goes you equip a job and lose most of your crossclass abilities. The way I took this from the many interviews was that whatever two classes it takes to get the job the main class GLD you will have all the abilities plus all the PLD abilities you unlocked however you can only pull a few select abilities from MRD but no other classes.
I hope this helps.
The cat is bemused =-.-=
