I provided further explanation above.
I have the forums configured to always show the latest post first, so when you say further explanation is above, I find myself patiently waiting for something to magically appear at the top. It takes my brain a few seconds to register that I'm doing things backwards...
Apologies.
I provided further explanation below.

Jobs
The job system - that series-defining trademark - will be implemented in FINAL FANTASY XIV (details such as specific jobs TBA). Quests to unlock each job will become available once you have reached a certain rank in the corresponding class.
Rather than being advanced versions of classes, we would like players to think of jobs as specialized playing styles optimized for partying. While playing as a particular job will render you unable to equip certain actions of other classes, you will be compensated with access to exclusive actions, which can be acquired through quests.
In practice, players will find the existing classes effective when playing solo or in certain party setups. Jobs, however, will shine in party situations where specific skill sets are demanded.
As you pointed out, what Matsui outlined is not what happened. The rest of your post, I never made issue with. Classes are for soloing, jobs are for parties, that was made clear from the beginning. While all things are subject to change, not once did they say, to my recollection, that it was changing.
My point, which seems to be difficult to grasp by many, is that it was not necesary to change CON to "make it fit" to white mage. Or for that matter, THM to make it fit to black mage. If they were "classes" of themselves like they said they would be, they would have their own skill sets.
Whether or not this way "is better", or whether or not I might like it in of itself, that I am not making issue with at all. The class/job looks interesting. However, conjurer is my favorite class (don't let my gladiator status fool you), and I am losing it, apparently. So yes, I have major concerns about that. I want more information that I might be able to "build" a class that plays exactly like CON plays now. By looking at the skills sheet, the answer is "no".
PLease don't forget that Classes > Jobs at the same time Jobs > Classes.
Its all circumstantial if its just me and two friends in a party doing leves or something along those lines then I am going to probably suggest we all be classes since we will have the most freedom to equip ANY NON-EXCLUSIVE ability/spell/weapon skill that could potentially make us stronger and able to do said content.
Vs
If I am in a full party I will probably suggest we all be our Jobs since they are more specialized and we have the man power needed to not have to spread out our abilities.
Because don't forget a Dragoon (job) will probably not be able to equip any of the healing spells/abilities, while the Lancer (class) will be able to. (See now, where the class is better than the job?) On the other hand Dragoon (job) gets access to special abilities that no other job can use, so in a big party setup wherein you won't need those healing spells because you have people covering it already, you can afford to be a job instead of class to dish out even more damage.
They both have very equal pros and cons. And if you think that people are going to demand jobs for bigger events/battles, then you are probably correct, but does that mean it will be 100% required. No, just make your own party, but I can see large group events being job driven while small group events being class driven.
I'm scared as most people are, but I'm still hoping for the best.
All these changes are either going to be really good or we better expect even more massive ragequitters. ):
The few concerning things for me is what they are going to do about the lore considering the class changes (hopefully already at 1.20) and the lack of enfeebling magics or abilities, because that means solo players would never be able to enfeeble anything... :\
And I always liked to spam debuffs as THM. ; ; Bye bye glorious debuffer days... And I'm deffinitely gonna miss Shadowsear. ):

BTW
ARC Mag. 1 Self AoE Increase the movement speed all party members within range. Effect fades upon sustaining damage.
ARC? Really? ARC? Wasn't that suposed to be BRD? lol Chocobo Mazurka {Where?} ... AoE Quickstride Roar {No thanks.}
I'm trying but I can't associate an archer with buffagas. >.>;
Archer Mag 1 = Flee (in the traditional sense that everyone in the party gets to RUN AWAY! at the same time) Personally, I think it was clever, it would be even more clever if it was a special AoE that was linear from side to side of the archer...lolimanerd.
some classes i expect to rare see after jobs (mainly MRD/LNC/PUG and possibly GLD) the mages i fully expect to see both, since each one can go from being just a heal or nuke to a mix of both whenever. And of course ARC to bard is a heck of a change, but im guessing people will be "lol why are you not bard yet? its SOOO useful...GET IT NOWZ".
MRD/PUG/LNC are pretty much always acting as pure DDs (or for MRD backup tank) so there is almost no reason not to be a job. Just expect to almost never see...or never need to use some classes ever, its pretty much bound to happen.
