they all seems like that (with the exception of bard) already. and clearly the devs built it that way so wouldnt what they build be their intent? its "supposed" to be whatever they make it.You are missing the point. Conjurer and White mage are not supposed to be the same. No class was supposed to be the same as the job it's linked to. That is what Yoshi-P said the classes and jobs would be. Linked but separate.
If there is any role conjurer currently resembles, it's red mage. That doesn't "point" to anything. Not that it matters. The only thing that matters is the official posts from square, not the rumors people fuss over.

I'm going to have to agree on this here. The only Dev comments I can find specifically regarding this are from an interview where they stated that the Jobs were supposed to be specialized roles, but the classes have also been specialized in the process of creating the Jobs and, in my humble opinion, defeats the purpose of creating Jobs in the first place. You are missing the point. I like what I see for the most part. Glads still get screwed on attacking, but at least they now have massive enmity generation so there's a chance they won't get laughed out of the building in favor of Marauders.
I'm afraid for Pugilist being heavily MP based. We've already suffered through this issue pre-patch, and now with the inclusion of so many MP using attacks (MP draining modes, MP draining auto-attacks as Monk) we might be back in the same situation despite getting access to a much bigger MP pool, which is the only reason we still aren't suffering through running out of MP at the present moment. Featherfoot DOES NOT help with keeping MP up as it is a tiny restoration amount reliant on a dodge, just to dispel that illusion.
Does anyone know for certain, not speculation, what class Pugilist crosses with to get Monk? If they have access to say Conjurer then it shouldn't be too bad because that class unlike Pugilist actually has a dedicated, no requirements like dodge or hit them from the sides, straight up MP restore.
PGL is also getting access to an MP-draining WS to help alleviate the issues. WS8 in the list, if I recall correctly.I like what I see for the most part. Edit: Ah, I see now that you actually reference that in your last sentence. . .

I covered that in my post, actually. It's a WS that has the possibility of restoring MP and only if you hit them from the sides. Pugilist/Monk seems to need a massive amount of MP, as much as spellcasters. Spellcasters get dedicated, linked to their class MP restore skills with no special requirements to get the MP back. If Pugilists use as much MP as a spellcaster (and it seems HIGHLY likely from these notes), Pugilist should have one too. Not cross class, a Pugilist skill. Either that or they need to ease up on all the "MP drain/MP use" they look like they're throwing around on Pugilists/Monks.

PUG30 gets Monk...where is everyone getting the idea that you need more than one class leveled to get certain Jobs? Seriously, not calling you out or anything but I've had to answer this question multiple times today, is someone or some website spreading false information or did I miss something?
Last I knew all the Jobs are direct 1:1 ratios to their respective classes. And you get the first quest for them @Lv30. If there has been new/changed information on this please point me to a link, I would like to read what I might have missed! D:>
devs said you will need marauder to get pld, and drg would have some other job attached to it.PUG30 gets Monk...where is everyone getting the idea that you need more than one class leveled to get certain Jobs? Oh? is there a link to this information? (I recently moved to Chicago and just got my internet installed) so I missed out on a good chunk of stuff, I tried to follow it as much as I could from that FFXIV Buddy App someone posted on here a while ago...but alas!
uhh it was mentioned in a couple of places, and in multiple of his revent interviews
thats from the rpgamer interview the mods linked, its in other interviews as well, where they mention dragoon being lancer and some other job, but im to lazy to look for it, just read the interviews, its sure to come up in more than one of themThe example given was for unlocking the Paladin job quest. Players would first need to level the Gladiator and Marauder classes to level thirty and then complete a job quest.

By the way, Monks should not, I repeat, should not have to use up MP to get kicks on their auto-attacks. Make that ability buff your attack power or something at the cost of draining MP, but please please PLEASE put kicks in their auto-attacks by default. Doesn't have to buff their attack when they have kicks, we just want the kicks so they actually look like martial artists and not boxers. Come on, SE.
