I paid $12 a few weeks ago and upgraded to Collects a few days ago but not sure what I got ?
My account info says :

Veteran Rewards Rank : None
Total days subscribed : 0
Days until next rank : 30

Also :
Version Windows Collectors Edition
A Realm Reborn check check
Account type Standard.

Why does it say 0 days subscribed ? Do I have to pay more .... what was the $29 mentioned on the website for ?????

The Basic game comes with 30 days of free game time (you have left 12 days from this).
Veteran Rewards ar special rewards for a long time of subscribtion (30, 90, 180 days for example). They are classified in Ranks for specific amounts of subscribed days.

To be able to play the game you need to pay for game time, most common types are Abo, Game Time Cards or the Chrysta from the Mog Station.
For the $29 i can't help you cause i don't know the specific context.

After this you are save till Stormblood is released.
