    Pre-HW Legendary Weapons

Wife and I just finished the ARR 2.0 msq, and are eligible for the Legendary weapon quest chain.
My question is: As we only get to play a few hours a week (3-5 tops), should we bother with this, or just head to Heavensward and 60, and do that weapon quest chain?

Unless you really find that the ARR relic would make a great glamour, I would move on and level to 60, then consider going for the 60 relic. With how little you play, I would go for a Sophia Weapon first.

Plainly put: Unless you really really really want it as glamour, forget about it. It's a very time consuming quest chain. Waiting on a specific fate for the book stage alone can take up to two hours if you're unlucky. That's not a very good use of your limited time IMO.

The initial "A Relic Reborn" quest is rather fun, and gives a nice (though soon to be glamour-only if it isn't already) weapon and a job specific title. A lot of people decide to go for that much of it.

But as for all the Zodiac upgrade steps between relic and zeta, that takes a lot of time (even with all the nerfs it's gotten since release), so I wouldn't recommend it except to die-hard completionists or those with a lot of time to kill. (I'm doing it all myself, but only because I fall into that "die-hard completionist" category and am in no particular hurry to move ahead.)

So my recommendation would be to get the first stage level 50 relic, then move on to Heavensward, level 60, and the level 60 Anima weapons. (If you decide you want the rest of the level 50 ones for glamour, you can always come back later and progress it further when you get bored of endgame.)

I don't think so. Not anymore anyway. One of the relic chain's nerfs was a drastic increase in how often those particular FATEs spawn. I have another couple books to go, but so far I haven't had to wait more than a few minutes for any of them.
Still, the whole process does indeed take a lot of time.

RNG is RNG. You may get you atmas in an afternoon, it may take all your game time in a week.

But, I do agree that the first part of the Relic Reborn questline is worth it. Between the lore, rewarded title, and all the fights you unlock (all of which are necessary for Trial Roulette), it's really the best chunk of the entire ordeal.

Also, don't forget to do the Hildibrand questlines for ARR. They are funny as hell, but also unlock 2 trials required for the roulette.

    Thanks for the replies.
Yeah, I think we will do the initial chain for the glamour and title and then possibly come back to it later on.
Sounds like the best use of the limited time we have.

I am speaking from the experience of the last 5 weeks there, where I was trying to get the relic on my alt. Unless something has changed in the meantime, no, that can happen.

What did change drastically are the beast tribe token FATEs. Those are popping very consistently. The legacy of allag FATEs a little less so - I waited an hour on the one in U'ghomoro.

My recommendation is to do whatever is enjoyable to you and your spouse. Also, if you are talking about the LV50 relic chain, then you have finished 1.0, and still have all of 2.0 to finish before you get to HW (100 MSQs). If you play casually, it will take you some time to get through these. You can work on the relic during this time. Als

Also a notable mention is that the fully upgraded relic is iLv 135 and is better than anything you can get until level 55-56. That is when it becomes a glamour, and not a moment before.

Most people play with a 'get to HW asap' mentality, and skip a LOT of ARR's content, a lot of which is amazing, so that is something to think about. ARR 2.0 is absolutely beautiful, and I wouldn't rush through it. If your wife and yourself are anything like me, you will appreciate the journey of completing your relic quests far more than the relic itself. Lots of potential in-game experiences are thrown out the window by skipping content.

HW isn't going anywhere, and it'll be there when you get to it. Even with the new expansion coming soon, there are still going to be a lot of players doing 3.0 content.

I'd say just go for the 2.X relics you want after you hit 60 in HW, mostly due to to the relics back then only starting out at ilvl 80, and being a HUGE pain to upgrade. (Literally you wouldn't finish it in the amount of time you say you play per week to get it from 80, to 90, to 100, to 100 again (Different stats), to 110, to 115, to 125, to 135)

This will give you more detail about the original relics from ARR/2.X, and let you decide if you want to sink the time into them. There IS a new relic now, and all you get to skip when starting it if you have the 2.X relic, is the very first stage of the relic, which in my opinion is very not worth the time put into it.
