Suggestion apperence book for 4.0

Can we get an appearance book in game for 4.0? I remember them saying it wasn't possible because of PS3 but now that PS3 is ending in 4.0 could it be possible to do now?

Basically the way it would work is whenever own a piece of gear and it is bound to your character it would get unlocked in the appearance book which is a catalog of all the gear you have ever owned.

Now then you wouldn't have to keep the item any longer when you want to glamor something it would open the book up and you could pick from all the items you have ever collected. This has been done in other mmos and it would be a nice feature to have.

That way we won't have so much full inventory on items that we want to save for looks.

So pretty much what WoW has done for legion. Trust me they should implement that with haste come 4.0. Now it should also remember our past glam options from before this came to be such as 2.0 stuff we "seen" before.

The problem has likely not been PS3 support, but rather server storage space. Although, I feel that such a type of system could have been implemented by now by using single bits for each item indicating whether the item is owned, and there could be 8 of these values per byte. Alternatively the armoire could be expanded to include practically all items, whether or not it already works in a similar manner.

If the server storage space is really an unavoidable issue, though, there could be some hope with the expansion. It has already been stated that the servers will be upgraded and player inventory will be expanded, so, with more storage space, an appearance log system could be more feasible.

Edit: However, as I have mentioned in a different thread, the described system does not address the issue of having different glamours on different Jobs that share the same gear.

Well, technically that was aped from Guild Wars. Still, it was amazing there and continues to be amazing everywhere. Hell, FF14 already aped Guild Wars 2's style of active events and called them "FATEs". Not that I mind- if it makes the game better, I like it.

Actually both GW2 and FFXIV copied Rift; that's what Rifts are in that game pretty much.

Yeah it was an issue with their server structure rather than anything to do with the PS3. We do sound like we are getting a server upgrade but with so few details on what that means I am not going to make any assumptions on what that is going to change.

As for 4.0, frankly by this stage if such a system wasn't already well into development I doubt it would be ready in time. Features like that take a lot of time to develop. WoW's took almost 3 years from when they first mentioned they were working on it. 4.0 is likely only 6-7 months away. I would say any Features we are getting for 4.0 are locked down by this stage.

Having said all that, I would LOVE such a system in this game. Definitely put me down as a vote for it if it turns out to be possible in the future.

This could help breathe life back into older dungeons for a time, or even some crafts, if you are forced to obtain the item and 'dissect it' for its patterns into a glamour pattern book.

Wouldnt a glamour book, pretty much free up inventory space, which means less people will hire the extra retainers from the Mog Station?

They can just have the book hold 1 page for 5 outfits and you have to buy the rest off mogstation. And if people wont buy then they can just scrap the whole idea altogether.
