Raptors, Hogs, Efts, Gnats, Drakes: Best results occur (minimum hits dealt to you) when the monster is facing away from you as you run toward/past it. I know some aggro to sound, but my observation stands.

Eyes... ugh, eyes. I like to pop my defensive skills, use emulate/quickstride, and race to the safe zone by the aetherite.
Raptors and eyes are sight only. You can run behind them easily. Heck, you can even stand on top of their ass if you want.
Efts and Morbols are sound but have a delay in response so you can chocobo past them.
Gnats, Hogs and Drakes are both sight and sound, and hit me for 4k damage in 1 hit...Record is a 9k critical.

CON and THM is soft...can't help it - Can't use the training strategy there because I die immediately...lol

And yeah I did think of leveling melee jobs to get the defensive abilities but this is all I have at the moment.
