By the same token, we're looking at a game where fists hit harder than guns do. Not to mention, both are capable of smashing monsters made of metal or rock as easily as those made of flesh and bone. The capabilities of weapons in this game go far beyond what they're actually capable of in real life. It is not a stretch to imagine a swordsman wielding a rapier, and still managing to deal top-notch damage to a giant stone head or an armored vehicle.

Team Yoshi would have a devil of a time developing this job in time for the next expansion, therefore I cannot see the job being released anytime soon.
This... is pretty much a completely backward way of looking at it. Any lore behind the job would be determined by the expansion - it's lore that doesn't exist yet! Did we have any lore about DRK or MCH before Heavensward came out? No. We seemingly had some for AST - but then it turned out that Ishgardian Astrology had little to do with Sharlayan Astrology, so pretty much all the lore we had had nothing to do with it after all. And what does Raubahn have to do with BLU in this game? Sure, there was a fellow with the same name that was deeply involved with BLU in FFXI, but this Raubahn and that Raubahn have nothing to do with each other. If BLU is added, Raubahn will not be in any way associated with it.

As for number of abilities and how strong they are, that, too, will be determined when the job is added - and you can be sure, that SE will give BLU only enough abilities and enough strength to balance it with other jobs in the same role. A DPS BLU would do DPS-level damage. A Tank BLU would do Tank level damage. As for number of abilities, the number of blue magic spells BLU would get would not be anything like the pages and pages BLU in FFXI got. They would have a number of abilities similar to the number of abilities other jobs get - and likely not all of those would be Blue Magic; many would be utility abilities that modify Blue Magic in various ways.

Given the flexible and creative ideas you came up with for Geomancer, it's startling how rigidly you seem to view how BLU must be!
