I heard you have to keep a static group all the way from 1-200 to even step into 101+.. Is this true or false?

Floors 1-100 you can do a matched party, and PUG with randoms.
Floors 101-200 have to be done with a fixed party that has cleared floors 51-100 with zero party deaths (no wipes, individual deaths don't count towards Party KO).
So, basically, if you want to do floors 101-200, you need a psuedo-mini static (be it with PF members who can agree to see the run to the very end, even if it can't all be done within a day, FC mates, or members of your current static, if you have one) to run floors 51-100 with, and then you can begin to progress through 101-200.

The whole thing sucks. I seriously doubt there are many people that can say they have gone all the way to 200. Only the bigger more dedicated FC's have a chance at this. If you are a casual player, fogetboutitFloors 1-100 you can do a matched party, and PUG with randoms.

101-200 isn't casual content. It's meant as a challenge for the people who always wanted the savage 4-man content. Even if you COULD do 101+ with Matched parties, I doubt the average DF person would be able to go past 140.
And you don't need a big FC to do 101+. All you need is at most 3 people who can be on at the same time as you and are willing to devote time to running PotD. You can either ask some friends, recruit on PF, or make an LS to get a party set up. If you think that's too much to do then I don't know what to tell you.

101-200 was a joke.. it wasn't ''savage'' it was mildly harder than regular palace
Agreed. I went to 130 solo, so even a matched party could easily do it.
Some people have even gone to floor 150 (and one person as of now to floor 160) solo.
The only hard part is the boss because of it's damage output. It's very hard without some kind of healing ability.
Agree, it's a crock...
My FC already has it's static group so I am sol.
If you have some people in your friendlist, a linkshell or in your fc who are not already running it you can do it without bigger issues but its not easy and in my oppinion a healer and tank are a must. Maybe a dps that can silence and one that can raise. We did that as PLD, SCH, NIN and SMN and it requires a bit teamwork and a voice chat is very helpfull. Until 181+ the whole thing is fairly easy anyway and should be killable for almost everyone who knows how to play his class at least a bit and doesn't run and pull like a maniac.
Find 3 ppl via DF, split nights up and run it. It's doable. I am in a group that formed and did just that. You do not need dedicated raiders, just a few ppl who can spare a few nights.
If you are so uber casual you do not have time to find 3 other ppl or are able to do more than 10 floors at a shot and yada yada yada, well maybe you may have to settle for floor 100 and just not do it. The entirety of the game does not have to be super faceroll, quick and easy. 101-200 are supposed to be the balance to 1-100 made for all types to enjoy. Super casual and raider alike gets something. Not everything has to be super casual or super hardcore. Balance is a good thing so everyone can enjoy it.
awwwwww man....this is bad news for me.....maybe.....
