SMN SpS vs. DET BiS?

Hey everyone,

So I'll start I'm new to raiding Summoner. Truth, I'm just ok at the game. Been playing on and off since launch but I'll admit I'm never going to too the charts.

I'm trying to tweak my SMN stats since hitting i250+.. What's more important, Spell Speed and DET are both in mid 600s.. More SpS or DET?

I am a noob SMN so take my opinion with a grain of a salt. Casters in general favor spell speed and crit for damage. Taking of advantage of Spell Speed to get more Ruin III during Dreadwyrm Trance seems more beneficial than more Det. Spell speed also helps boost DoT damage as well.

jupp. but don't forget that det also boost your egis atks as well. although im playing a ss>crit>det build myself a crit>ss=det build should be BiS atm. Lulu is right i would push ss until you get the extra ruin lll (which should be around 700ss kind of) and than balance det to ss. in the end the dmg difference shouldn't be that great either you push det or ss - but ss will decrease your cds and casttime for hardcasts. so its up to you ^^

I would also tend to think smn likes better det and crit were as blm it is first ss> crit

Spell speed does effect your dots but like people have said there is a threshold you need to hit for more Ruin 3 during Dreadwyrm about 750 but this varies a little bit based on your ping.

Here are the current Summoner stat weights, I believe:

WD: 11.835
INT: 1.000
DET: 0.192
CRT: 0.287
SS: 0.195

As far as those are concerned, SS and DET are just about equal.
