    Devs: RMT Annoyance Chat Suggestion

    Is there a way to add a collapse function to the chat in game? Let's say a person repeats the same thing over and over, could there be a feature to collapse all the same kind spamming to the first thing it was said with the same context?

    Example:

    Someone: Blablablabla
    Someone: Blablablabla
    Someone: Blablablabla
    Someone: Blablablabla
    Someone: Blablablabla

    Would collapse to:
    ->(5) Someone: Blablablabla

    That way you can mitigate the spam from RMTs in the cities. It's so annoying. Sometimes it's the only thing I see in my chat. I know this would have pros and cons. Just tossing the idea to see if something else can be done with this annoyance.

    Or you could just blacklist the person and never see the chat again....

    @Raynar

    That's true. I could do that after I see the spam of the RMT or there could be preemptive measures to focus on what I want and not go around it. The whole thing about black lists is outdated and a new approach has to be added. Just having to add someone and then remove it from the list is maintenance I don't want to have to deal with. It's annoying.

    Be sure to right click the person's name and report them for RMT that will help get rid of them. It works for both whisper and various spoken channel spams.

    The thing is though they don't post exactly the same message twice. There's usually one or more randomized letters at the end, for some reason, so your idea wouldn't really work anyway.

    Yeah, there's really no point in putting these types of measures in as they will get around them way too easily. The devs gave us the tools to deal with it, so it's up to us to use them.

    The randomized letters at the end are just a small portion of the string. You can do a match up to a certain point through the text. It's not hard to implement. The real problem here would be up to what point to do the tolerance for such a function. It can also be combined with the time stamp the messages have. Say 90% accuracy within a reduced time interval would work pretty much for any rmt message. And like I said, it's collapsing the set of messages, so the messages per se are not lost. So there wouldn't be a fear of missuse. Let the player set the tolerance and time interval a person wants to use. You'd get a much cleaner chat log if you use that kind of feature.
