The true question is: What happens with the child/children if you divorce? Does one get the child and the other has to pay? *laugh*
The idea is really cute OP but this is better left for fanfictions and imagination. ^^;

Letter from the Producer LIVE Part IX Q&A Summary (10/30/2013)
Q: Will there be any maintenance fees or other costs for housing, besides the cost of the land and house?
A: In older MMOs, such as Ultima Online, there was a house maintenance fee you had to pay weekly, but in FFXIV: ARR we decided against this system. Similarly, these older MMOs also had a system where your house would break down if you didn’t log in after a while in order to have you continue your subscription, but this is a thing of the past and we won't have any system like that.
Hence why I suggest being able to interact with them. I could see them requesting certain items or places that would keep a happiness bar (or similar)full, which would earn EXP or have a similar beneficial effect
i would love to have children NPCs but I know they wont do that
I'm actually surprised they gave us the ceremony of bonding because I see the Warrior of Light more of a tragic figure who is part of the world but also outside of the world. I don't see a happy ending for us...I dont want to leave orphans lol
But i would love to have children in this game
as much as I personal dislike kids they could go a route close to what "Fire Emblem: Awakening" did, gives us back this "Path companion" I herd about & a kid for u'r avi at the same time... thou the paradox-level time loop would be challenging to overcome, what did we adopt/make it then next quest lose it into a temporal rift due to gobbies messing with techno-crap only to have the kid walk out 2 sec's latter all grown up? that would be 1 long mess of lore I have only a vague idea were to start from
What some see as "distracted" is really "fathoming the unfathomable" - last words from an Ul'dahn Mercurial Chemister at the battle of Carteneau
Pls no. Us Lalas don't need any competition. Maybe adopt some fine Aetherochemical Compound #666 instead?
No, if that were an issue, the game wouldn't have NPC children either, yet it does.It would be a cool idea, as long as the children are not playable characters, I guess. Even then, I suspect there might be legal/ethical/rating reasons why child characters can't be implemented in a game like this, where players habitually dress up in skimpy costumes and engage in ERP.
(I don't like the idea, but more because of the issues over why in the world we'd be taking children with us out into the sort of dangers we regularly seek out.)
How would you handle Fantasia'ing then O.o
Poor thing would be traumatized if kitty mommy suddenly becomes roe daddy ^^;
Fantasia is a completely out of character item. It doesn't exist in the lore.
But essentially it works by rewriting history to make it as if you were always that way.
