I understand the tier IV, since they can be traded in for sands if you get three umbral or three astral, but the tier V ones? I've never heard of much use for them, but then again, I don't do any sort of transmuting (and not even sure what that is). Just kind of wish that the iron sacks, since they are from more difficult floors, would give better drops. I know they give HQ replica Allagan pieces, but other than a few pieces of that, I've gotten mostly elemental materia and fireworks. Did get the Edda minion though. :> I really want the song that plays the last 5 or so floors for 91-100.
At least for the tier IV elemental materias, they're so common, the market for them is pretty affordable on my server. So works out for those that want to trade them in, I guess. X3 I never bothered trading them in, because I would get tons of poetics that I'm not spending on anything, so I just bought the two items from Mor Dhona, and traded them in for sands instead. X3 Couple thousand gil from selling them does help me buy crafting mats if I decide to make stuff randomly though.

Go to the goblin out in Central Thanalan that teaches you how to meld. He'll take 5 materia, your choice, and turn them into a random new one. Generally the same level as most of what you use, sometimes a step lower, and even more rarely higher. So basically you take all these cheap IV and V elemental or useless stat Materia and try for things you or other people want, like V ranked Crafting/Gathering Materia.

Ooh, nice! Thanks for the advice. May definitely try that out to see if I can get some more crafting materia. Maybe RNG will be nice to me, since I only have my crafters half-way melded, and still a ways off from the new 4-star stuff.Go to the goblin out in Central Thanalan that teaches you how to meld. Same on odin put a replica allagan piece on mb for 800k b4 i slept it dropped to 30k by time i woke lmao i was QwQ
Well the music was nice but otherwise it was still the same like all the other floors before..have some traps, some monsters and pew pew through them..I wiped once at the last boss thanks to his adds and I do wonder if he is even doable without the new pomander? Still the boss fights were alright and it seems that there are no insta kill monsters on the floors like the slimes?
I do kinda wonder how you can do it solo. I did get to floor 50 solo but I noticed how hard the monster hit even on the first ten new floors..well I will try to get my weapon up to max before doing 1-50 again to get the no K.O...and after that will try 51-100 solo..I fear that its not really doable otherwise..
I hate the restriction for floor 101+. Punishing people for having a K.O in their save data is really mean imo. Its not always your fault that you wiped since monster can spawn randomly and solo its quite easier to die too..How about letting people choose how they want to try floor 101+? If I only get to floor 100 solo after wiping 40 times and still want to try the "savage" floors why not? And why cant we go with randoms? If you need a tank, a healer and two DD to even survive this (which would mean that its not doable for solo) than force it like you do with duty finder..the waiting times might be longer but at least those without a static can still have the chance to try it..and if people want to bang their head against it and wipe constantly with randoms (or not) than it should be their choice..Now I have to look for three other people on my friend list that have the time and motivation to go through all the floors..level up enough to stand a change, no single wipe too, to get to floor 101+.
I just cant see how these floors will be interesting for the raiders over a long time. They dont get anything out of this that will help with their raiding and I can only see it either for glamour or for competition..And its depends if those floors are truly savage or not..
Oh and please can you just get rid of these fireworks? We already have quite the big pool of items that we can get (and poor crafters that crafted the replica stuff..SE loves to destroy every market left) and its so pointless to get one firework out of it..At least make the amount bigger..

Level up the gear, go in with proper consumables, learn the field of vision of the various enemies, figure out what is easiest for what job to handle and try to limit the kills to those as much as possible for speed.
Even the 80th floor boss isn't impossible. Tanks can cheat the wipe if they can't burn down the last 10%, and anyone can technically survive it with the new pomander I believe.
About the only things I can think to request to make things more manageable would be a status cleansing item for pacification and stronger potions, but even without that it should be perfectly doable with proper preparation and a little bit of luck.
Well but as soon as you wipe once even if you use the pomander to get rezzed again it counts as a K.O. so it would restrict 101+.
Welp I looked at reddit and someone already solo'ed it with dragoon so it seems its time for me to git gud.*laugh*
Letter from the Producer LIVE Part IX Q&A Summary (10/30/2013)
Q: Will there be any maintenance fees or other costs for housing, besides the cost of the land and house?
A: In older MMOs, such as Ultima Online, there was a house maintenance fee you had to pay weekly, but in FFXIV: ARR we decided against this system. Similarly, these older MMOs also had a system where your house would break down if you didn’t log in after a while in order to have you continue your subscription, but this is a thing of the past and we won't have any system like that.

The KO counter is for actual wipes to my understanding, not singular deaths.
The environments are much cooler and make you feel like you're in an underground palace. The music is always great, and getting arm/armor upgrades seems a hell of a lot easier now. Before the patch, I'd run across 20 silver chests and never get a single upgrade. Now it seems like the chest either gives you an upgrade or it explodes lol a welcome addition imo.
Now for the cons. Some friends and I ventured beyond floor 100 and we're currently at 130 without any wipes. But floors 100 and up, for now, feel exactly the same as floors 1-100. I had hoped for some sort of puzzles or mobs with interesting mechanics, but it seems like they're just mobs that hit a little harder and have a bit more hp. That's a bit disappointing to me because I feel that there's a lot they could do to make it more challenging. And also, they shouldn't have bothered giving potd a "story" at all. It could have been really cool, but all the story comes from the final cutscene after you beat 100. By that time, you have no investment in the story at all.
Overall, it's fun and I like many of the changes made. But I still feel like there's a lot more they could do with this setting.
