I'm a mount & minion collector , actually #2 of ragnarok and I have 208/210 minions at the moment.
This is a really really bad news in my opinion. Sure it's useless, and only I care, but this collection is what is keeping me on the game in-between patches when there is nothing else to do anymore.
I wouldn't mind doing X number of PVP games to get a minion even though I don't like PVP, but now I have to be good at it too ? And it's time limited ?

There are minions already not available to anyone if didnt preordered the game back then etc. so some minions arent available to me too. Your point is invalid those minions I talk about were time limited too and a limited amount of players got it.

The thing is anyone could get the preorder minions there was no limit to them. This new minion only 10 people can get and 100 on the mount.

As a PVPer and PVEer I thought season 1 and 2 had fine rewards but when they said that the rewards would be changing every 2 seasons that makes me wonder if they will ever come back around again and even if they do who knows how long before they would or may never so it would be very exclusive which does seem odd considering the marketing strat they have been using for bonus exclusive minion/mount items (which some people go crazy for) I personally never understood why game companies cut content from a game and made so called bonus content out of it. (Oh yeah, double dipping and over the top greed) Could have just done pvp wolf totems for finishing in top # range/color tier with new stuff added every 2 seasons to a pvp totem npc. Seems like SE are asking for unsubs and killing some of their whales off with this one or at very least getting less sales on promotion/cash shop junk which they need to stop doing all together anyway but it seems SE are to busy trying to copy WOW's business model... LOL

Surprised people are starting the whole outrage now - We had two seasons before this, it was pretty clear minions and mounts would become rewards eventually from the moment they said they would change rewards.

The whole ranked system caters to a minority (good players) of a minority (people who like ranked stress) of a minority (people who like PvP). It's been set up like that from day one. Yes, it's probably one of the dumbest ideas a dev could have had. But it's nothing new and I don't think people who were fine with that setup before should complain about it now that it affects them. Glamour enthusiasts were screwed before, now minion collectors get screwed, so what? Instead of complaining that it affects you, maybe try complaining about the fact that people get screwed in the first place.

When SE started locking minions behind plushies, albums, books etc. That was the moment I stopped being a collector. I do not have tons of money to spend on all those things but worked really hard in game to collect minions and mounts. Now I just get what I want because I realized I will not have a complete collection. It\\'s best others players realize they will not have 100% of everything in the game unless they spend lots of in game time on things or tons of money. Just recently the devs made some older minions like blue bird really easy to obtain which I was against.

However the opportunity is there. Do I have a opportunity to buy all the plushies and merchandise? Yes I do just like everyone else. Will I? No sadly. Do I have an opportunity to do PvP and work to get into the top ten? Yes I do. Will I? No because PvP in FFXIV is not my thing even though I enjoy PvP in other games.
