I would suspect two things contributed. One complaints in both languages. Two it hasn't generated the bump in participation they hoped for. PvP has some pretty quality data trackers, can any of them tell match difference over the 3 seasons? Even though season 3 is still early it has probably started to stagnate, since no decay on rank and more fear of dropping this season.

"Minion collection" has to be one of the most selfish excuses I've seen for someone to demand they also get a better chance at an exclussive reward. While at it, why don't we ask we get the art/screenshot/etc. contest rewards as achievements too? I happen to be an earring collector! It's unfair that we get a limited time chance at those!

I can see why they came up with these prizes. It's meant to be a cool thing for the winners of the season to show around, something for other people to say "oooh, look at that guy!" and it's a fair reward for the winners of the entire season of a pvp mode the devs meant to be competitive. And this request is a display of how selfish this community can be. I'm really disappointed.

At least when I check, the winners appear to be the same handful of people every time (ie. the top players each season have repetition). I understand PvP rewards, but PvP right now seems to be on life-support.

Minions, unlike mounts and cosmetic gear, are actually used in other content, as something with valid stats. *points at Verminion*

Dear square I am an avid earring collector. I was not skilled enough in 1.0 to get the white raven earrings and the thought of not having them makes my tummy super-duper-upset. Can you please give it to me as an achievement for x hrs idle in idyllshire? I mean its called idle-shire so I should get an reward for being the best at being afk. If not that can you please put it in the cash shop for 25$, but only for one char because I want people to be impressed at my wealth when I buy them for all my alts, thanks. ♥♥♥

So SE just made a change that motivated a larger portion of the FFXIV playerbase to try out PVP. It creates shorter queue times and more competition. Apparently it still will take effort, but it won't be impossible to gain after a few months. This benefits everyone. Why all the spam? It's actually a bit of the opposite. You literally have a choice now to compete in the Feast and place top 10, or simply wait til the season is over, and put in the very-likely-lesser effort to achieve the same thing. The time-release is simply to not discourage those currently competing for it, but effectively, SE has just said "Climb the mountain now, or walk the trails later. The same prize will be awarded regardless of the method or effort chosen." Everyone has a chance to get the minion now, and that's truly great, but with what's been laid out, why should anyone bother to compete for it now?

And as stated before, I'm personally not all that interested in the minion. I still don't even know what it is.

Perhaps that was intended to be funny or a nice dig at the people who voiced legit protest to the idea, and with good reason. But as it is, it adds little to the conversation and really only reflects poorly of you.
