Game visuals freeze but sound/play continues

This has been driving me MAD for a few weeks now. I've tried everything under the sun to fix it. This is my final resort as I am convinced its either a bug on your end, or on AMD's end.

After a random amount of time (sometimes 45m, sometimes 3hr, but always eventually) the game will seemingly freeze. This happens in windowed or borderless (havent tried full screen as I wont be playing full screen anyhow). Thing is, the sound continues playing and if i click something like esc with a sound effect, I can tell its still functioning "in game" so to speak.

My gpu's (3 rx290x) and my cpu (fx9590) are all at stock. I'm using the newest drivers (but ive tried 2 or 3 versions back) my windows and c++ are all up to date.

Most importantly, this happens in no other games. Wow is playing hunky dory. Witcher 3 plays fine. Its only ffxiv.

Any ideas? I read elsewhere it could be packet related but with a gigabit ethernet and a 300mb hardwired cable line, im hard pressed to even consider the issue being on my end. My wow ping is 16ms for god sakes. Cant guess what ffxiv's is as the option isnt there afaik.

Either way, im at a loss. Tried cranking my fans to 100% (even though my gpu temps are great). Tried disabling/enabling crossfire.

Google has this come up with other games but not much on ffxiv. That being said - the other games often seem to point to a problem with the game itself the developers need to address. Hoping to draw attention here if thats the case.

is your operating system a 32 bit or 64 bit by chance? if 32 bit you may need to lower some of the specs. My friend had that same problem and being that FFXIV specs are growing they recommended to upgrade to 64bit. They will continue to support 32bit but for best results they recommended 64bit. I myself run a 64 bit operating system and never had a problem. Just a recommendation and oem versions aren't that expensive. It could also be affected if you have some background AV running, have you tried putting it in silent mode?

    Try turnig vsync off.

Used to happen to me. Could get it back by hitting ctrl alt del and closing out of taskmaster pronpt.

Turning vsync off also eliminated the random crashes I always got in dx11 as well. and has been responsible for a few problems I've seen so worth a try at the very least

I do run with vsync off and yes, ctrl-alt-del will bring it back sometimes.
