Indeed, I do not mind the whole "zero KO" part, but having to find 3 other players and starting from floor 1 and you need to stick with those players from start to finish and if 1 of them dies you have to start from the begining, is a little a too much.
It's not if one of them dies. A party-KO is if everyone in the party dies. If it was just from a single person getting KOed then it would make the new auto-raise pomander useless...
The purpose of this is to turn the 101+ floors into a proper roguelike dungeon. If you wipe, that's it, you're done and have to start again from the beginning.
So in a way trying floor 101+ solo will already be quite difficult because you would need 0 K.O in all those floors before that. :/ I managed to beat floor 50 solo and looked forward trying all the other floors but this kinda saddens me..sometimes you just have really bad luck and get killed by the boss or on some floors in between..which now means that you have to start from 1 again to even get the chance to try out 101..yes it will be hardcore and I am not even sure if it would be even soloable but at least make it something like 3 K.O's..I dont have a static or friends that are always on at the same time so this floors will probably be out of my reach..how disappointing..
Letter from the Producer LIVE Part IX Q&A Summary (10/30/2013)
Q: Will there be any maintenance fees or other costs for housing, besides the cost of the land and house?
A: In older MMOs, such as Ultima Online, there was a house maintenance fee you had to pay weekly, but in FFXIV: ARR we decided against this system. Similarly, these older MMOs also had a system where your house would break down if you didn’t log in after a while in order to have you continue your subscription, but this is a thing of the past and we won't have any system like that.
Changed my mind after few potd runs lol. .. people are treating it like 1 to 10 ._. Saw a tank with 3% hp run into room n aoe all the mobs lmao
No my friend, that's not excessive. That my friend is a challenge. My issue lies in this qoute
"Floor 100 and Beyond
While floors up to 100 are related to the story of the Palace of the Dead, all floors after were created strictly as a challenge for players. For this reason, you cannot enter floors beyond 100 with a matched party.
Furthermore, players must meet the following requirements to challenge these floors:
Start from floor 1 or floor 51 with a fixed party and clear up to floor 100.
Party KO count must be zero."
Not have a single KO? That is a bit excessive in my eyes, it's not impossible, and going 1-50 with prebuilt team is fairly easy, but from my understanding 51-100 is supposed to be much more difficult, I'd say having 3 or more KOs lock you out of floors beyond 100.
Also a misunderstanding I think.
It means if the entire party is KO'd, not a party member being KO'd.
If you wipe on floor 124 for example, you don't start again from 121, you start from 51. To prevent trying to cheese pomanders and layouts I assume.
Forced fixed party still stinks.
I look forward to making a party finder, getting all the way to floor 150, and then having someone say, sorry, gotta go bye!
And that would be FINE ... if we could replace them...

Make it happen.
Yes, the achievement was not retroactive.
I will need to complete floors 1-50 solo again.
Last time I did it as a Summoner, but I have not played Summoner since then.
I probably can't play very well, so I will try as a ninja.
I'm pretty upset by the new PotD requirements. I have two friends that I can consistently play with, but our play window is very small. Finding a 4th person who is available for that limited window and is willing to only play for ~an hour per day is going to be very difficult.
PotD went from one of the most casual friendly pieces of content in the game to one of the least overnight.
