Thread: Naming Conventions for Accessories in 3.4

I don't know why you guys decided to change the accessory naming convention for tomestones of scripture gear, but doing so was not a good idea. Before, there was a common theme for all accessories. Aiming was DEX, Casting was INT, etc. The point is, even without reading the text of the item a player knew generally what jobs were going to be equipping said piece of equipment. This naming convention was preserved for the raid gear, but has been changed for the tomestone stuff to Shire something something unintelligible. If it's too late to change it back I understand, but please change back to the old conventions when 3.5 comes out.

It's like that because the gear is Sharlayan based.

If you remember,, the Gubal Library normal gear uses the exact same naming convention.

Working as intended: Eorzean gear uses Eorzean terms, Sharlyan gear uses Sharlyan terms, and gear from other places of origin uses their own terms (Like the Valerian gear from the 160 dungeons). Now that you bring in up, I'm a little disappointed that the Ironworks gear didn't use Garlean class names, but I guess Cid and co had been here long enough to be used to Eorzean names for things by then...

Basically it's all there for flavor and Lore Reasons, and it's not like it's that much more effort to just look at the stats if you can't remember the new words.

My biggest gripe with the Sharlayan naming convention is that Tanks are "Custodians". I don't wanna be a janitor!

If i remember right "Custodians" were a high rank of elite guards in the roman empire.

It was mostly a joke; though all the same we're not living in the Roman Empire.
