    Class/Job Mechanics and

I'm currently on my way to being a Warrior and feeling a bit overwhelmed. I feel like the game has just thrown a ton at me and I'm having a tough time digesting it. I tried taking the class into the Palace of the Dead to get a hang of things for the future and it was just too much. Deliverance, Wrath stacks, when to use things like Inner Beast, as they act like an attack and a defensive cooldown. All this while doing dungeons for the first time as a new player.

After completing floor 50 and getting all my abilities onto my bar, I not only lack the knowledge on how to use them, I've run out of keybinds. As a Marauder , it felt okay. I had all the separate tools I needed and it all fit nicely on a bar. 2 taunts, a stun, and a few cooldowns.

Now I'm struggling to put it all together. Is it just the Warrior Job? Is there a more intuitive class come level 60?

    Welcome to Eorzea!

Unfortunately Marauder (MRD) and it's Job upgrade Warrior (WAR) are quite complex for a new player who is still getting a feel for the game and tanking, for the reasons you mentioned (learning to stack Wrath on Defiance and knowing when to use Inner Beast so as to power up Steel Cyclone etc) so it's not usually recommended to start with if you're not very confident.

Instead, Gladiator (GLA) and it's Paladin (PLD) Job upgrade are more simple in mechanics and are more suited to a new player who is not yet confident - there it's just a three step weapon skill combo (Fast Blade-Savage Blade-Rage of Halone) and making use of the Flash spell at the start to keep hate on you, in addition to just using cooldown abilities like Rampart as they become available.

Because of it's simplicity many players write it off as 'boring' sadly, but for a new player just starting, it's perfect to learn the ropes with. Plus you can make use of several GLA abilities on MRD as well, especially Provoke which most players would tell you is essential for a tank (it's an emergency 'get hate back onto you in a hurry' ability). That does not make GLA/PLD 'baby's first tank class' though, GLA/PLD can be a powerful defensive force on the battlefield in the hands of a skilled player. It's just well suited to new adventurers.

Either way, don't get discouraged! Try switching to GLA and see if it's easier to learn the game with and once you've mastered it, then try MRD/WAR again. You might see it in a new light.

Try leveling up the normal way instead of Palace of the Dead. By going through dungeons, you get ample time to experiment with each new ability as you learn it.

Every Class/Job has around 32 abilities/skills you have to keybind, some can be stacked as macros or shifted with macros but in the end you have 32 abilities/skills to learn for every class/job at level 60

Well, I've decided to go back and finish the last low level area as a Conjourer. Once I get that to 15 I'll switch back over to Gladiator/Paladin and try that. It seems to have less mechanics to worry about. No stack management or split combos. [Storm's Path/Eye]

Still don't know what I'm going to do to cram all my abilities onto my bars. If I end up with 32 at endgame, I'll have to figure out where to put the last 8. It's a stretch for me to get up to 24, I'd really prefer no more than 18.

Having all three tanks at 60, along with all 3 heals and SMN/BRD as well, I can say now in advance: Those 32 skills - you'll be using them all - and likely even more than that... When you add in hotkeys for Potions, sprint, Limit break, mount etc. - I have between 34-40 or more keys pending job at level 60, and each of them finds a use.

Way back ages ago, when you leveled before Palace of the dead existed... It gave you time to learn each skill granted etc., as you didn't go 1-60 in the span of a few hours, and instead it would take you a few days or a few weeks instead. So, as Urthdigger recommended, I also suggest that you try going back and leveling the old fashioned way the first time through. The Main Story Quest has more then enough bonus EXP (along with gear etc) to get you to 50+ and then some, while giving you the time to learn your job properly without overwhelming you.
