Hi! To FFXIV devs - I was wondering, could we possibly see the return of Depth of Field in 4.0 (or whenever) that we had in 1.0 and that we now have in the /gpose feature?
Thanks for reading![]()

Yes please.
Me: "Aww man I'm clicking all the wrong buttons tonight!"
Friend: "You're i190, you can't click a wrong button unless it is no buttons"
Me: "lol"
I was thinking that since they are dropping PS3 support, that perhaps we can get this feature back![]()
Honestly this would be really cool, I dont see why to some degree they couldn't step it up a little bit, after all the average today hardware is much more powerful than the hardware that was needed to play 1.xx when it was live.
The only reason 1.0 had the depth-of-field was to hide its atrocious lack of LoD transitioning. You'd see the high detail environment parts clip through the low detail versions in the distance, and blurring it all was their band-aid to the problem.
Given that the minimum specs for the game are going up in 4.0 I think it's a safe bet that we'll be seeing some new graphical settings. Since DoF is already in the game at present in the /gpose camera I see no reason why they couldn't offer this to us as new setting with a slider to choose the distance at which it takes effect.
Yeah, you are correct because LoD which is basically Low Detail on Distance OBJECT which it didn't HAVE that is why it did not need to hide anything. The game was so high quality that it did not implement little tricks such as "LoD" ^^;
I hope soooooo
