How Should I price the Ornate Ironworks Apron of Crafting?

So I got this from WT, but not sure how much I should price this gear. I've never been involved in crafting scene of this game. There are only 4 pieces in the market board and the prices list there is 27-50 mil. Can you guys help me to price this?

Ironworks has been available for several months now, I think it might get replaced in a few more patches. The body armor is one of the few pieces that can't be fully capped though so having all 5 slots guaranteed does help. Best materias would be 2x control V and 3x craftsmanship V in the last slots, with 12 remaining craftsmanship being the stat that isn't capped.

Slot 1: Control V, guaranteed just like normal ironworks.
Slot 2: Control V, guaranteed just like normal ironworks.
Slot 3: Craftsmanship V, 17% chance for normal ironworks.
Slot 4: Craftsmanship V, 10% chance for normal ironworks.
Slot 5: Craftsmanship V, 7% chance for normal ironworks.

Craftsmanship V costs maybe 300-400k on my server, and you need on average 27 more craftsmanship V (30 minus 1 per non-guaranteed attempt, 3 such attempts) to fully meld normal ironworks than ornate ironworks chest piece. 350k*27=9.450 million gil.

I think 10 mil might be the high end for fair price for the ornate chest piece, and I personally wouldn't grab it unless I didn't already have a melded ironworks chest piece and the price was no more than ~7 mil, since I don't need perfect meld to do the hardest HQ crafts and because craftsmanship is IMO the least important of the three crafter stats. Since it is rare or because not everyone is going to calculate the benefit vs. normal ironworks, some people may consider 15-20 million to be fair price, but IMO that isn't justified by how much you can save on melding.

And if someone wants to argue about the value of craftsmanship, I use 2x Piece by Piece and lots of flawless synthesis, both skills which are not in any way improved by craftsmanship stat, to raise the progress to over 2/3 of final required progress.

We had someone on our server selling this.

They opened a party in Party Finder and started the bidding at 10 million gil.

They sold it to whoever bid the highest.

Disadvantage of the party finder is you'll have to manually trade 10+ million gil. I would use the Auction board instead just because nervousness sucks. I do concur that depending on your server 15-20 million is going to be fair price. While 20-30 million would probably still sell.

Ironworks will not be replaced until sometime during 4.0 ... though exactly when is questionable. If 3.0 was any guideline, then the Ironworks stuff will be very similar (enough that it won't be worth replacing with, if its not better than) level 65 gear, and won't be replaced until 67 or 68.

I would be shocked if anyone bought that thing for more than 15 mil honestly.

Even that seems high, as 15 mil could get you the full regular ironworks set made + most of the overmelding done unless you have very bad luck

Best in slot melds with full Grade V materia will cost you a lot and I do mean a LOT more than 15M, that's the main selling feature,

But you don't even need full grade V materia to craft 4-star recipes. Melding an Ornate Ironworks Apron with two control Vs and three craft Vs nets you 15 craftsmanship over a normal Ironworks Apron melded with two control Vs and three craft IVs.

To get to that 15 mil for a set; assuming 400k per control V (which would be overpriced on my server, I think, it's been a while since I checked prices) you could fill every 100% meld slot with them at a total cost of 6.4 mil. That'd leave you 8.6 mil for the materials for a full set and the rest of the overmelding.
http://ffxiv.ariyala.com/WUAN I threw this together in a min or so, and most melds aren't all that expensive. It's 9 control and 27 craftsmanship away from BiS (excluding MH/OH tool caps) and gets you to the 4-star requirements without food.
The benefit from that extra 15 craftsmanship from the Ornate Apron would be hitting 4-star stats without the Soul of the Craft, but you can do that just as easily by adding another grade IV craftsmanship to the MH and OH tools.

I'd say the main selling feature of the Ornate DoH/L stuff is just for people with too much gil on their hands, who want to get into crafting without the hassle of overmelding stuff, as most serious crafters already have their ironworks set.

It will still be the best crafting body until 4.0 hits next summer. Most people who want Ironworks will already have it, which is the problem. I have the i250 Ornate MNK gear up for 5g Million and it hasn't sold, yet some sold for 15g Million even after I listed. A lot of big market board sales aren't exactly what they seem.

That said, try listing at 15g Million to see if it moves. All depends on whether you urgently need the money.
