This will be my final update to this thread. I give up. I'm throwing in the towel. Sophia wins, and I guess Square Enix wins. I'm completely and totally done. This is a massive waste of time. I've seen Sophia at 8% multiple times, but she just raises both middle fingers and kills us all. Because that's what ALL difficult fights need. A time limit. Nah, I think I'm going to do...well, literally ANYTHING else.

I know the frustration is bad and wiping is really not enjoyable, no matter what people say, especially when it's an enrage. But if you keep trying you will love the feeling of accomplishment after you clear it. I am totally sure you can do it, if I managed to clear and farm Sophia anyone can do it. Just don't give up!

This comment has zero relevancy to what I said. There's almost 20 pages of this person receiving "educated" help and the person is still failing at page 15 (where I stopped reading). That's why they should quit. Because the FFXIV playerbase has unskilled players that don't (or can't) take advice and become skilled. Okay, then quit so people who don't bitch and moan on the forums can play the game. OP cleared it and is probably farming right now. You should be the one to stop playing, no one needs someone that can't understand that different people learn at different rates.

If your consistently seeing her below 10% and reaching the enrage timer... then the issue is probably not with you. Tell the dps to lift their game. You would probably do really well with even just a few static people to que with.

Sooo....yeah. I just got finished my 16th group of this, and you know what? This is stupid. I've wasted so much time doing this, and really, what's the point if I'm not having fun? This isn't enjoyable, and I really don't care if people think it's easy as compared to whatever. If that was even 1% true, a clear would have been possible with even ONE group. And for what, really? The only instant kill mechanic is the enrage. If you're hitting the enrage then too many people are dying. Enrages are put in so that people can't die and get revived over and over again until you manage to kill it. The penalty for dying is low/no dps. If there was no enrage there would be no real penalty to deaths. It shows that people don't know the fight well enough and need to stop dying.

Since you've been to 8%, you're ready to join clear parties. With luck, you'll find people that actually know the fight and won't repeatedly die. And that's when you will get your clear. Once you have the fight mastered, you can join farm parties. Then it becomes super simple to get multiple clears to get weapon(s). It's always the first clear that's the hardest.

If you still want to win here's how to kill Sophia 100%:

1.) Open up Party Finder, set the ilvl to 240 (or higher if you want), and say "Clear Party -- 2 Strike Rule. Come with full knowledge of the fight." What this means, as you've probably guessed, is that if anyone does 2 major goofs then they're kicked and you have to be ruthless.

2.) Get a Discord server. Tell EVERYONE to go in there, even if they "don't have a mic".

3.) If you feel confident in your knowledge of the fight then you can call out mechanics. If not, see if someone else will. Calling out mechanics makes this fight even easier than it already is as now you don't even need to pay attention to soft/hard tilts, which side, etc etc you can just listen to the caller.

4.) Win!

An alternative strat is to just buy a run. If you feel like you're already past clear level but just can't find luck with parties, it's potentially worth it to just buy your clear and start joining farm parties. I personally recommend the above strat instead as I've never had to buy a run with it, but if you've got gil burning holes in your pockets then I don't entirely see the harm in it.

you're already past clear level but just can't find luck with parties.

If you don't like challanges, then don't do fights that are meant to be a challange. Easy solution. Others who like it will do them. Win-Win.

Look I can see why Sophia might be difficult, most black mages struggle with this fight so you'll need some time. Also success is earned not given, if you want something then it is not without failure. I cleared mine with the Japanese RF on the first week, with lower ilevel gear, more inexperienced players and mechanics are not as simplified as they are now. 0 way to communicate since I can't speak japanese, the only thing we used was:

- MT/D1 -
-H1/D2 Boss H2/D3 -
- OT/D4 -

that's it, just a macro. You're in a NA server so learn to communicate or set up PFs if you must. And you need to find out what is going wrong (or at least tell us what are you dying to) before we can help you. If you're hitting enrage then parse the party, because I had one run where the BLM was blaming everyone and he/she was doing 500dps, whereas the pld was doing 1.4k.

Sorry but.. this is life man, nothing comes easy, if you give up too easily now, then you'll do the same outside of the virtual world. If you don't work for something you'll never grow nor value anything. You're pretty fortunate people are talking to you like mature adults, and not the usual " git gud" despite the way you respond.

People here have given enough advice to make a guide, despite the little information you're providing us. If you're struggling as a tank, watch videos. If you're playing a PLD, you can use tempered will during tilt to reduce the movement of the boss so you can pull more DPS or use it as an emergency button if you mess up. Save sheltron for Tank busters( unless you're more experienced), use divine veil right after the ADDS phase or whenever important. You can use cover on your co-tank during tank busters (be sure to pop CDS). The tank buster is physical, the auto attacks are magic based so you won't die if you use cover. 1:10Minute into P3 there will be a a set of skills in this order, Clones,Thunder3> Aero3>Tank buster>Execute + Laser, if you have no choice get hit by the laser rather than Aero3. DRK might be a little hard for you so maybe you can consider using a PLD? By now it is rather hard to die to the auto attack of a tank buster anyway more healers are capable of healing you through the light resist down debuff.
