    Capped Tome Overflow System

When you cap the weekly restricted tomes for the week you get a bit of red text and the message "you cannot receive any more tomes of 'x' this week". Rather than that, however, why not use the tome conversion system in place when old tomestones are removed from the game?

Ex: 90 tomestones of Scripture -> 30 tomestones of Lore

"Weekly limit for allagan tomestones of scripture reached. Excess tomestones will be converted into allagan tomestones of lore."

This would just be a small addition to encourage participation in dungeons or other content after weekly cap has been reached.

the opposite would happen. because there is no dungeon or other content wich only gives scripture tomes, they all give lore tomes as well. if you want lore tomes you have no other choice than doing said content. but if they convert the scripture into lore tomes then you will get more lore tomes and have to do the said content less often. that's the opposite of encouraging people to participate in dungeons and other content.

Minor edit there, because that is the place you go to actually "farm" lore tomes if you want them atm. If you specifically want lore tomes, you aren't going to run other content, because that's less efficient. It's 150 lore per run and only 10 scripts - even at 100% conversion, these people would get roughly 7% more lore tomes through this change - So you save one run out of 15. Big whoop!

The people who would have significantly more lore are those that are not actively farming it, because if you aren't actively farming, you don't care one bit about the efficiency and might engage in other content - such as running a 6th expert the week, doing PvP or whatnot. If you primarily play Feast for example, the same above mentioned 100% conversion would net you 50% more lore tomes. That's quite a bit more, but nobody who specifically wants lore tomes is gonna do Feast for them.

This would function only after you hit the weekly cap.

So - to be fair, you'd have already done several expert runs / other activities. It's there so that you'd continue to get rewards for doing PotD / Dungeons. People that don't cap each week wouldn't get more or less tomes - people that continued to play would get a few extra lore tomes for their trouble. Some people may not care about extra lore tomes, but those are the same people that might not be motivated to do Wondrous Tales or desynth.

The additonal lore tomes are also not 1:1 with scripture. The rate could be scaled appropriately so as not to upset balance of game.

I'd love to see this. I've been playing a lot recently and wind up capping on scripture pretty early in the week. Then on the weekend I'll be doing activities with my FC like getting their alex drops or doing maps, and I'll just wind up seeing another 100++ scripture drop that just go off into the Aetherial sea never to be seen again.

Even if the conversion ratio was 4:1 such that when you got 20 "Scripture" it only converted into 4 Lore, that's be great. Heck, even just convert them into gil and I'd be happy.

so what will change? you are doing 1 run less out of 15. so instead of 15 runs through ARF you are doing just 14. how is that encouraging people to participate in content? even after those changes they will still run ARF for lore and nothing else.

these changes will nothing change other than that you will get your lore faster. i mean: nothing to say against getting them faster. but the argument that these changes will encourage people to participate in content is just wrong.

I don't see any problem with this. I refuse to farm ARF on the basis that it's boring, and I suspect that if scripture converted to lore on the other dungeons, people fed up of farming arf would be able to farm other dungeons instead, which could lead to better queues for other lv60 dungeons. The amount you would get from current ex dungeons would be 130 (80+50), which is still short of arf's 160 (150+10). While it might not get more people in to content (as people drop out of content sooner for having more lore), the change might push people out of farming arf into other dungeons, which could well make up for it. As for other lv60 dungeons, the scripture given is so pathetically low getting them as lore wouldn't even be noticeable.

In short, I think this would give people more options for lore farming, and that would encourage lore farming, not discourage it, as people wouldn't burn out on doing just the one thing over and over.
