All North American Data Center Worlds Network Technical Difficulties (Oct. 26)

Connecting from the UK using BT infinity here, not been able to connect to the Primal datacentre (where my characters are) since this morning. Was perfectly fine last night.

Will SE give us subscription days back if service is impacted like this? never had to deal with this issue before

I can connect to Diabolos with only one character of six. I only really play one of my characters, and I can't connect with that one.

The one that I can get in with is in Ul'dah, and is still in the "instanced" starting quests.

This seems really odd to me. Why is it that I can connect with one character but not the others?

Its not YOUR ISP that's the problem.

Its one of the waypoints that the data to and from the game uses to get to the datacenter's ISP that's the problem.

Your connection <-> your ISP <-> various internet infrastructure <-> some problem somewhere <-> various internet infrastructure <-> datacenter's ISP <-> your game server

Does that clear things up?

I know exactly how this sort of thing works, but based on the fact that I can log in with one character on Diabolos, but none of my other characters on the same world, I'm not sure this is due to the problem you describe.

Not for me. I would like a official explanation from SE. I currently have their online chat up, I'm going to simultainously talk to them and Comcast at the same time. It will be lovely. I'm sure I'll be stuck in the middle of a, it's your fault, it's their fault. But at least I'll have a transcript!

I'm in Canada, on Rogers Internet, I can log in and play with no issues.
Hopefully you guys get yours resolved soon.

Okay so I'm going that it's a DDoS attack and SE just thinks we are juvinile and won't know what that means. Would be far more understanding, just tell us what's up SE. We live in the Information Age, this stuff happens, just be honest about it. What was released this morning was kinda garbage.

I've got Cox as my ISP in Nebraska. Was kicked off around 1AM CST last night, still can't get on.

I had two days left in my play time....

The character that once DCs, can no longer log in.
So only my main was DCed, and unable to log in, then 30mins later, my alt DCed, and now cant log in (same with my main, still unable to log in).
Then my 3rd character DCed an hour later, and now I cant log into her, along with the prior2. Leaving my last character still able to be logged in/out of.

This isnt about ISPs or anything else, something else is locking our characters out like in the release of 2.0 when you got DCed, u cant log into that character.

I wasn't ever disconnected on any of my characters, but I still can't log in to any of them except the one alt that is a level 1 in Ul'dah, still in the "instanced" starting quests.

Quoting this mostly to say the Lightning pic made my day. Also to say I'm sorry to hear about the DDoS attack on Level3. But that clears things up for me a bit.

Same, I DC'd doing thordan and I can't log on anymore, I can't even past the start menu.
