I don't like the fact that when you pick up a full party more often than not there are people with level 50 classes in them (naturally) and then it simply becomes a matter of scratching your back if you scratch mine, instead of volunteering to help due to your incredible altruism or whatever. And when it ends, the sheer EXP/hr ratio really gives a different perspective to when you end up doing something else to level up. When you can level like that, it's like tasting the forbidden fruit. Every other method becomes inferior. If Yoshi's plan is to offer many ways to level up- and then this one way is so grossly superior to everything else- then that's pretty shitty if you ask me.

If this goes on, finding likeminded people to group with without PL becomes increasingly difficult and annoying. If this was about helping friends, then I guess the whole server will be your 'friend'. Somebody remind me why we have levels in this game in the first place?

Whatever other MMO's do to deal with the concept of PL is hardly relevant here, IMO. At least there you would have to plan a bit ahead because you can't just press a button and enable the PL mode and press it again to enable the low level mode. Further traditional grouping is preferred from what I've seen so the opportunities to utilize PL is quite high, and the game encourages leveling multiple classes so of course many people have access to multiple classes.

I'm sure it is great to be able to level all classes to 50 in no time but you'll quickly run out of stuff to do and I don't want that to happen. But I will also play the game by its rules regardless of whether the rules are crap or not. Am I going to disband when someone pulls out his lvl50 CNJ and I'm already at the camp? It is incredibly hard not to bite on that fruit although you know the consequences. Why does the game force me to make that choice?

In a nutshell I don't think you can have exactly the same rules in this game as in any other game. Some aspects yes, some others not really (like the way quest rewards work). Also before someone gets all upset I'm not against leveling fairly fast and I doubt that will change no matter how much I cry about it. I simply do not like one of the current methods of leveling.

Lastly, you could say that I simply need to ignore the society I belong to (a society that largely encourages PLing- if not yet, in the future) and do whatever I want. But I can not do that, not in real life and not in-game. Society shapes us regardless of whether we realize it or not, and society can dictate what is an accomplishment and what is not. Breaking that bond is not something most of us can do. We do not exist in a bubble.
