Many features are behind the times so to speak.. its sad really for a newish game to feel older then some others with so many limitations.

I agree having this feature would be great, I hope they do try to upgrade the game enough to handle some features that are standard and default in older games.

    please consider SE!

Looooved gearing up in both GW2 and Rift. Rift was such a great game and the AH in rift was kickass with the searches and posting and being able to buy part of a stack rather than having to buy 99 to use one piece, and the bidding feature was cool too and, and, and, oh well.

For most of my gaming life, I played this ooollld MMO from 2003 called Mabinogi. 3d cell shaded cartoony anime graphics that ran on a single core. GUESS WHAT? You could dye sections of clothes there too.

But hey, let's use an MMO example that was on the ps3. Anyone here familiar with DCUO? You could do that too, and at any moment you wanted without spending a dime. So, I don't want to hear any bullshit about "Oh, we need ps5 for that," when even ps3 was perfectly capable of it back then.

Many much older MMOs with far less capable engines have systems where you can dye multiple sections of the same piece of gear.

Things like personalization of our characters is not important to this team as can be seen with the general homogenization of classes & gear/gear progression.

I.e. It's not that it is cumbersome or difficult, but rather it is an issue of they don't care/want to do it. Which is fine; it's their game. It's just lame as are the excuses they provide.

The difference in implementation between added a feature to a game that wasn't initially intended by the engine, and starting a game with a certain feature in mind is massive.
IE: Mabinogi could dye multiple parts of your clothes, it was designed for this, it works just fine. They later tried to add dual wield high mobility gun wielding 'classes', and they're basically just as clunky as the rest of their combat because the engine really wasn't built for it in mind.
Or look at APB. The Customization in that game is second to none, it's amazing. It took them months to actually add a deathmatch mode that functioned properly. Trying to implement some new (even a simple ) system into a full game is a hefty task.

They've had 3x financial resources for work on the new expansion over what they had for HW. The implementation of such a system.

They've added MANY systems to the game that weren't originally a part of the starting system. Housing, glamours existing at all, hunts, etc... It's matter of desire from the team's side as much as anything. If the desire was there to get it done it would get done. It's not so it hasn't.

That's fine as I stated it's their game and I enjoy it for what it is. But the general sentiment of character homogenization that exists in game and in the minds of the dev team in systems such as locked in vertical progression treadmills with no means for personalizing you character and how it plays or not being able to make your character look all that much different from anyone else is clear. Again, that's fine, but it doesn't mean it's not the case.

As always, you can't please everyone all the time. This falls into that category. To the team there are more important things to designate resources to. Cool, nbd. It's just a personal desire I have for the game.

Last I heard, Stormblood was twice the budget that Heavensward had, now it's suddenly triple that amount?

You'd also have to keep in mind that while they have a higher budget, that doesn't mean a system adjustment like this is high on priority, it's likely/hopefully being spent on more content at 4.0 launch. Avoiding another scenario where there isn't much to do at endgame is much higher on their priority list.

On the fanfest they displayed the SB budget to be about $35 mil, whereas HW was ~$12 mil.

Well seeing as the team is admittedly having trouble to even allow us to queue in df with chocobo companions active, I do not see something like this happening any time soon.

Gotta remember too that the team was barely able to allow us to talk to npcs while on mount by the end of 2.X(?). Really weird things that seem so basic in other mmorpgs.
