Funny related story. Was FATE grinding for a Relic, and found myself next to a level 50 mark (can't remember which one). I clicked the level sync button, and then...bam, he spontaneously aggro'd then one-shot me.

At least it wasn't the damn frogs. I swore up and down I would rain death upon Mor Dhona once I maxed out.
Just wait til next patch though. The relic will ask for hunt materials and hunts will be instakilled again and people will cry about it

Eorzeans, a thought occurs. We're told that we're hunting these elite marks because they're monsters that have grown too strong and too big, or are causing some kind of problem, yes? But, all we ever see them do is roam around and growl at stuff until something attacks them. What if, instead of a bug that needed fixing, this became an unintended feature? Just hear me out for a second. I saw earlier that a monk had a quest location where an A rank had spawned and it did not like him AT ALL. So he was forced to stop and wait for hunters to take care of it. ACTUAL INCONVENIENCE. What if Elite ranked monsters started attacking towns and villages and such? Or the Ixal beast quest's little hideaway in the south shroud? It goes from a chore of busy work to doing a public service in the game. Just food for thought.

I...would not mind this actually. I think we need a few beastmen/hunt mobs to wonder into a town, say, Idyeshire, and begin ripping apart all the unsuspected people that constantly AFK there. Then folks would have to fight them back for them to retreat. What if, instead of a bug that needed fixing, this became an unintended feature? Just hear me out for a second. FFXI had this in the Wings of the Goddess expansion areas (Conquest) and the Whitegate city zone (Besieged). NPCs could also be taken away too and it was up the players to go and rescue them, or those services they offered were not available until they were rescued.
Imagine, the tomes and item trade NPCs (or Rowena...>.>) could be hauled away to some area out in the Diadem and it would be up to the players to put together a rescue mission. No tomestones upgrades until you take care of business or defend the area to keep that from happening in the first place.
Yea, bring it xD

Time to find a new game if that happens.Eorzeans, a thought occurs. I played FFXI when it first came out. Yes it was tough, but they didn't put King Behemoth right outside of San d'Oria. They put fair enemies outside. Sure, they may have gone insane after the cap was raised to 99, but the mobs outside of town are still fair. This game was made to be more casual. I think if I was a fresh level 1 and ran into a level fifty monster right outside, where the nice NPCs told me to go, I'd go to that unsubscribe. But that's totally not the reason I selected this post to quote over the other, much better said, arguments of why higher levels get more arrogant.OMG you died? tell me did it hurt? how much gil or xp did you lose? did it take you 2hr to get to that spot? how many items did you drop on death? I wonder if Alonzo Lerone would accept an FFXIV forum post.
When it was first implemented, they did.

You're not exactly new to the game so your alt should already be in a linkshell/FC with other veteran friends you can call for help or just shout in Gridania or naturally login to main character and beat it to pulp lol. I understand while it is inconvenient to fresh newbie experience but you only lose a couple of durability % in this game that can be repaired with a few coins.
I'm pretty sure there are plenty of people here who played RO before and had worst of losing precious experience and efforts over someone's genius idea of dropping a few Dead Branches at Prontera entrance, which only then it's worth the QQHelpKill thread.
One time while leveling...
I did Titan story.
Got placed at the location where you start it, head outside the little ravine back towards town.
Walk outside the opening and fall over dead.
Look behind me to see a giant tonberry hanging out just outside the entrance where I couldn't have possibly seen him.
Sneaky Marbery...

Just do what every other normal person does. Swear revenge and come back later.
I've got my eye on you, Sabotender Ballerina.
