Old Cool Armor

I been trying to research armor sets, mostly Lore sets, and while at it noticed how Lore sets are bought with different tome currencies, and that many of the old currencies are considered obsolete, and if I understood it right, some of the stuff is entirely gone from the vendors.

By now the old stuff is not competitive, but there are some things I look at and really want just for the sake of looks. So my question is: are there any ways to still acquire these old armor sets? Or once these are gone, they gone for good?

I'm fairly certain that every piece of gear in this game, outside of timed or seasonal events, is still acquirable. Any armor that used to be bought with Tomes are usually just moved elsewhere.

Well, I am still detangling the web of information, but was looking at this:

It says some tomes like Allagan Tomestone of Esoterics have been removed from the original vendor in patch 3.4. I think the dragoon gear (if i saw the right link) looked awesome and would love it at least for glamour eventually. I cant find information on the consolegameswiki about where else that gear could be aquired now, and the old vendor page seems to be broken... so... super lost.

The i70 gear is found in some of the 50 dungeons, the i90 can be exchanged by some dungeondrops. i100 can be bought with allied seals and the upgrade items for this with poetics. i170 and i200 can be bought with centurio seals, also the upgrade for item 170 to 180. upgrade items 200 to 210 can be exchanged by the mhachi drop from VA.

Thanks! So, I'm guessing eventually the.... hmm forgot level... Lore set will be "phased out" and given a new way to acquire it? Given it's the second best set, is there still a weekly timer on how many tomes are earbable towards it?

I found the look of the Scripture set quite lackluster and would love to eventually aim to have it but to still glamor as Lore.

(And yea, know I'm getting way ahead of myself since I'm only lvl 48

Lore tomes don't have a weekly cap, only the current highest tomestones do (Scriptures). Since it's the last set of tomestones for this expansion, Lore tomes won't be phased out until the next expansion's patch (4.0)

... the i90 can be exchanged by some dungeondrops. ...

For jobs going through the level 45 and 50 job quests now, the i90 gear has been added as additional quest rewards. It's just for jobs (like my NIN) that fell in between, leveling after it was no longer available for tomes, but before it got added to the quests, that you need to do the trade from the Antique gear drops. (Which reminds me, I've been meaning to collect that Koga set for my NIN, maybe I'll run those dungeons tonight. Starting to get tired of my current glamour.)

Just like in ARR with Allied Seals, it seems like they're always moving the retired Tomestone sets in Heavensward to come from Centurio Seals, so always check with the Hunt NPCs.

Curios, how are these transitions usually handled? Let's say I have 100 Lore tomes. Expansion comes and I have not spent them, they no longer drop and items are moved somewhere else. What happens with my tomes, at least what has happened in the past? Do they become Centurio Seals? Do I keep them but am able to transform them into something else?
