Should Dancer branch off Rogue/Thief or Pugilist?

Would it not make more sense for Dancer to share abilities with Ninja instead of Monk? That is assuming Dancer is even sharing a class with another job. Dancers can use a similar weapon to Ninja since Dancer typically uses knives/daggers as a weapon.

The devs have flatout said they won't ever do another hybrid like SMN/SCH due to how difficult it was to balance. If we do get Dancer, it'll just be a job in the same way DRK/AST/MCH were.

Yes, if we assume dancer is in the game AND we assume it branches off another job it would make more sense to branch off rogue. I even know how the lore would work for that. Sneaky rogue infiltrates castle posing as dancer..and the rest is history.

But Yoshie-P said there won't be branched jobs ever again and currently only red mage is confirmed for stormblood (well 99% confirmed).

I wouldn't mind it. I think Dancer would meld right in with a dagger wielding class. Or like twin ring weapons, not sure what they're called but yeah.

IF dancer was confirmed, and IF they'd ever have a job that branches off something else again, I'm quite certain it would be arc/brd.

I can't get myself to believe a dancer to be some kind of pure DPS thing. To me, it got way more of a supporting role. Buffing people, reducing their CDs, refreshing MP/TP...
Hell, I can even imagine it better as a healer than as a pure DPS.

dancer branching off a class that uses poison, assassination, mutilation, hiding so no one can see you dance, mugging, sneak/trick attacking ppl....makes sense?

dancing around with a bow? that's really no different than singing around with a bow. how would a dancing archer be different than BRD?

Poor Red Mage is swept under the rug by this Dancer speculation that is apparently confirmed by the community. But anyways, if Dancer becomes a thing, I want it to be something brand new, not a rehash of something already existing. So I would vote for not Rogue or Pugilist. That'd be terrible.
