    PS4 struggle

    Hey guys!

I recently switched from PC to PS4 and am still struggling with the controls.

How do I zoom in and out in the fitting room window?
When selling items to an NPC, how do I switch from the buy-window to my own inventory window without using the touch pad?
When selling items with my retainer, how do mark the current price to adjust it without using the touch pad?
(yeah, I think that thing is a bitch and I hate to use it)
How to I move skills from one of my hotbars to another one without actually having to delete them first completely?

For any other tips and tricks I'd be very happy as well! Thanks in advance!

There's a button that you have to click on the bottom of the fitting room window to enable model manipulation. After that, L1+Right Stick to control the camera, left stick to move the model.
    Triangle.
Click on the price, the numbers should turn green, then use the D-Pad.
Hold L2 or R2 to highlight whichever half of your cross hotbar, then click the touchpad. This will enable hotbar edit mode. From there, just use L2/R2 to select the skill you want to move, and then R1 to cycle through the hotbars.

Another tip is that clicking the touchpad will cycle through HUD elements (Chat Box, Duty List, etc.). What direction it will cycle in can be changed in character config.

Likely not the answer you were looking for but can also always hook up a mouse and keyboard to the PS4. FFXIV is one of the few games that support a standard mouse in the console.

The interface is designed so that you can do everything with a controller, though some things are understandably more cumbersome. Like Ogulbuk suggests, a keyboard is pretty much a no-brainer for an MMO, to properly communicate if nothing else, (though I suppose you could be using Teamspeak or similar). Even if you're planning to use the controller for most things, a mouse is super helpful here and there. From what I understand, as far as control options are concerned there should be very little difference form PC and PS4, and on PC I actually use a PS4 controller, KB, and mouse. The mouse is mostly for the things you described -- setting/ moving skills on hotbar, as well as universal things that i don't put on the X-hotbars (mounts and gearset icons for job changes mostly) but instead put on shared hotbars on the sides of the screen.

If you just want to use the controller then ZhaneX has you covered. Since you switched platforms you must have already passed all the little tutorial pop-up things that show up anytime you do something for the first time. I forget where you access those things again, but many of those cover various controller specific commands, like editing the X-hotbars.

    Thanks all of you

I actually turned off the little help menu.
Got a keyboard hooked up to my PS4 as well since it's important for me to communicate with my FC.
Still, I guess before buying anything new wireless I'll just try to get used to the whole different world of controls. I'm just glad I know how this game works, perhaps if I had started it on PS right at the beginning I wouldn't have sticked to it.

Maining a healer now the hotbar accessability is way easier than on keyboard and clicking on each and everything.
However, I used to main War and would like to switch back to it some day.

    So, another question:
When doing large pulls, it was so easy to just click on the monsters and tomahawk them while simply running by. How is that possible with a controller? From my current pov I figure it will result in anything but keeping aggro when I run and press buttons while pressing further buttons to probably target things I don't even wanna target.

A keyboard is definitely needed for chat. (One tidbit, though: for repeatable quests that want you to say something, the PS4's on-screen keyboard is actually easier because of its predictive text feature. Once you've typed something before, it will recommend that phrase later. All I have to select is "A" for it to recommend "Amid the Flowers" since that phrase is used in one of the Ixal quests. Only helpful if the quest is a repeatable one, though.)

For targeting, it can help to set up different target filters. You can designate a filter where the right/left keys will only cycle between enemies, another where they'll only cycle between players and NPCs, and so on (up to four different filters, each customizable). Also, you can press circle to remove your previous target, then press X to target the nearest enemy. Sometimes that "nearest" criterion is more useful than the next in the cycle from what you'd been targeting before. (The only downside is that that X to target the nearest enemy/object/NPC/whatever does not use your targeting filters. Only the left/right cycling is customizable that way.)

EDIT: Oh, and in case you haven't found it yet, the up/down keys cycle through the party list — particularly helpful for healers.

Also, for hotbar slot space, be sure to set one of your cross hotbars as an extended bar (and perhaps another as W crossbar). These can then be removed from the list of bars you cycle between because you'll have another way to access them, (both R2 and L2 to reach your extended bar, or a double-tap of R2 or L2 to reach your W crossbar).

Thanks a lot, Niwashi! That seems really helpful and i'll try the filtering when I'm home immediately!

I switched because of a glass of wine that killed an MSI gaming laptop..... :/

Make sure your character is facing directly at them, just hit X and Tomohawk them then cancel your target with O. Hit X as you approach your next enemy and rinse repeat. X will always target whatever is closest to directly in front of your character as long as you don't currently have a target, so it just takes some getting used to but you can do that just fine.

Something that you may not know exists is that there is an option for Hotbar expansion or something like that, but it lets you access more slots when pushing down both triggers together. Everyone I know that uses a gamepad (myself included) has found it incredibly useful.
