What new options would you like for the existing races?

Body sliders in general, really.

One reason why is that I was super excited when Au Ra was announced, and their concept art was killer. I liked the option of having a barrel chested beefy male type without being bara-like. Then you see the actual models and their necks look scrawny and their waists are unbelievably tiny and just has a weird look when compared to the concept art. love my au ra, but would love it even more if I had the sliders to go for what was initially envisioned.

I really thought people who didn't want a new race and wanted more customization were serious

This thread isn't about adding new races, though. It's about adding customization to the existing races to give players, and the game, more variety.

SE already said they weren't going to add Viera because it would just be a Miqo'te with bunny ears/tail instead (even though I would like for Viera to be added) back when 3.0 was being announced. They also scrapped the ideas of adding more "bestial" races in 3.0, because there was original concept art for the Au Ra to be more bestial, rather than human. I believe they scrapped it because the Japanese player base didn't find it as appealing, and that they would have to rework several gear sets extensively for bestial races (but don't quote me on that).

I rarely see people complaining not to add races due to lore. The closest I've seen was someone saying that Ala Mhigo doesn't really fit in with adding the Viera race (since everyone is still hoping for Viera), where as Au Ra fit in with the 3.0 concept of Heavensward and dragons. But even these complaints seem few and far between in the threads I've read. Lore can always be expanded on.

Personally, if it came down to a new race or more character customization for the existing races, I would have to go with adding the customization. But that's just my opinion.

It's a tricky line to walk as we've learned over time that the Devs are forced to weigh their options on what they can give us at certain points in development.

And unfortunately, it's very possible that they lack the manpower to give us both, as building a new race to implement is incredibly time consuming.

Expanding the current races would be far less difficult but solve the same problem that has had us begging for a new race to begin with; more character variety.

Let me tell you, spending three hours building an Au Ra girl over multible sessions in CC, drawing her, building a lore friendly backstory, only to bump into an idling player that could pass as her twin sister is a miserable feeling that's hard to put into words.

I would like an option to adjust the scale/horn color for Au Ra. Like maybe have the clan with the blue scales have cool color options and the other warm.

I so want body hair for Roegadyn. Not even for the "manly" appeal or even any sort of preference I have, they just... really don't look 100% right clean shaven like they are.
Also please give male Highlanders eyebrows.

Body sliders in general, eye height, nose width, musculature and such. Things that are pretty much standard in most games and other mmos these days. That would even eliminate the need for different faces, just add better customizations.

Outside of that, changed default poses, the only reason I could not handle the Aura female is because of that weird, bended, twisted leg that looks like its too long compared to the other and puts them in a strange, off kilter pose that looks incredibly uncomfortable. And why are female highlanders always in a battle pose with balled up fists? Can't they just relax a bit?

All male characters need a body hair option... some chest hair is a good thing

I would like to see a hybridization of races.

I love Hilda the Mongrel, and to be honest, it's how Elezen should look, but if we could just get a Hyur/Elezen hybrid I'd be fine with that.

Now would that open up a hybrid "Pandora's box" with the rest of the races? Perhaps, and I'd like for them to be able to pull that off as well, but this could keep them from actually going through with the great Hyur/Elezen combo.
