    Just want to discuss something about what Yoshinori Kitase said.

    Kitase said that action RPG's are "becoming a trend" and "one you ignore at your peril." That means there's a big chance that Final Fantasy XV will be labeled an "action RPG."

    "Final Fantasy XIII and Final Fantasy XIII-2‘s battle systems have those elements of speed and action that are the key words for us, though that doesn’t necessarily mean we’re going to stick to the same route in our next game."

    I don't think gamers is moving away from turn based but instead, forced away from turn based because developers stopped making the system. SSsooo, we "moved away" because we didn't have a choice, so you ignore this forced trend "at your own peril."

    You don't "think" gamers are moving away from turn-based RPGs but they don't care what you "think"; they care about their bottom line. If turn-based RPGs aren't moving(and hey, for the most part they aren't), they'll make something else that will...

    Lately I've been replaying older console JRPG games because I can't find newer games of that genre worth a damn these days. XII was short and too easy, gambits made everything a joke. XIII? My god, that game pissed me off. X, x, x, x, x, x, x, x... I can count on ONE hand how many times I needed to actually think out my actions in that game.

    So screw it, I'll go back to playing RPGs that were actually fun. Lunar, Grandia, SO2/SO3, FF-FFIX, Chrono Trigger/Cross, so on and so forth.

    After playing western RPG's i.e. Fallout, TES, KOTOR, Mass Effect, OMFG SKYRIM etc. I find turn based combat incredibly boring. I can't play JRPG's anymore. I started shying away from them when they became more about spectacle than anything else (FFVII). Once I experienced a few western RPG's with their huge open worlds, non-linearity and action combat, I never looked back. I'd like to see a JRPG that incorporates those elements.

    What amuses me about this comment is that 13 wanted fluid battles and it did accomplish that. basically when people say that it's like they are saying "well I wouldn't have used the move that mob was weak against hell no, I wanted to use fire on that fire type monster not water." It's like the concept basically said, well in a game you pretty much perform the moves that are most efficient for the battle, so instead of having to give commands to every player you controlled one, and your moves were based on the most logical setup you as the player would end up choosing anyway.

    The strategy in the game itself came from changing your batle plans through the battle whether you needed healing, someone to act as a shield or enhance your party or enfeeble the mob. In that case the game moved pretty fast and the action itself was pretty much formulated as "well these are the actions you would pick anyway so why are you complaining that's it's done automatically?" Unless you actually enjoy the aspect of doing "magic" "Fire 3" "use", "magic" "Fire 3" "use" rinse repeat til the mob is dead lol.
