Please remove the hidden "/wait 1" between macro lines...

For those that are unaware, there is a 1 second wait between each macro line. This is why gear swap macros take forever. It's not because the game doesn't support swapping multiple pieces of gear at once. (If you spam your gear macro you'll notice you change gear much quicker. Also, when changing to a class that cannot equip your current gear, it all gets removed at once.)

Please remove this. I can understand why it was made this way, but it's really worse than having to put /wait # between each line. I'd really like instant gear swaps back

Yeah, the automatic "/wait 1" doesn't work for multiple spells anyway so it's pretty useless.

I agree strongly with this, I was fairly disappointed when I started leveling conj and tried setting up some gear swapping marcos for buffs/debuffs/nukes for when I hit 50 (I was a RDM/BLM/PLD/DRK in ffxi, I had gear swaps for everything, even enf/dark/mag acc /fast cast gear for DRK drains and stuns). I figured I was just doing something wrong and just set it aside for later, but if there isn't a way to only hit one macro and swap gear all at once then this game just got a lot less fun for me, collecting all the best gear for buffs/debuffs/nukes/abilitys/etc. was a huge hobby of mine in ffxi. It was also one of the big differences between more knowledgeable player and the standard one gear set for everything players.

If me and the OP are missing something, please enlighten us.

that work with regular spell thou, so if you have a macro using in sequence raging strike, hawk eye, ferocity and blindside, you'll have to put manually a /wait between every line.
Choose if the price is wortly
@arumat: this game it's strongly against gear swap, so i don't understand your point.

There is no point in changing gear mid fight in this game as the stats on the changed gear are not used until after the enemy/enemies is dead. It was made as such so you dont change gear during the fight

His point is that since we probably need different sets for each of the specific settings, like, when we're going to use Cure spells, we might want to boost heal potency / mind to the maximum, but then when we're using attack spells, we might want to re-equip gear to maximize offensive spell potency instead.

Then his question was, is there a way to make that happen in practice? (Currently using gear swap macro is so slow if you're swapping more than 1 piece of gear, so it's not quite practical especially in battle situation.)

Yeah I remember back when I was playing mage in FFXI, we have to carry 8 elemental staves and swap the staff to the corresponding element to help with our spell damage. Unlike here, all gear were changed instantly when we hit the macro.

By the way, I thought we get stat penalty when we change gear mid-fight. Also, we can't change gear while engaged, I thought. Or is that because I'm melee and am always in active mode? (And yeah his question was about mages.)

My concern for gear swapping is how your character has to reload every time you make a switch, making your character invisible. If you make switching your entire gear set instant, people will use it like they did in FFXI, which is to say, before every action they take and after said action is complete.

In FFXI, this created a problem for console players because they could neither switch as much gear as PC users and it made targeting characters who were constantly gear swapping very difficult (which could mean messing up a life saving spell as a healer job). The PC had hacks that helped you deal with these problems, but console players were screwed.

If you expect the PS3 version to save 14's bacon, you really can't implement features that put them at a serious disadvantage to PC users, or ones that make gameplay awkward, such as a party full of untargetable, constantly reloading characters from all the gear swapping they're doing .

If they could make gear swapping work in a way that works equally smooth for PC and console users alike, then I have no problem with it. But I really think there are better ways to improve your character's performance than a Sailor Moon routine before every nuke and Provoke.

@yukikaza: I'm not 100% sure what you mean by that, but I take it you mean that they have said/insinuated before that they are against gear swapping? If so, I missed it, and my point is mute I guess. Will just be one of those things I will miss from an old game.

Edit: Just saw the rest of the posts responding to me.

Swapping gear shouldn't affect the players visibility anyway. I'd go as far as calling this a bug. But currently the game has serious problems with invisible or misplaced characters anyway :P
And I don't think we need or want any mid-fight gearswapping. More like between fights to change from water to fire gear or from aoe dd to single target dd.

Just to clarify, I'm not asking for gear swap support during battle. Although I loved it in FFXI, this is a different game and is not designed to play the same way. As Eruantien already stated, changes in gear stats do not take effect until all claimed mobs are killed, if you change gear mid-fight.

I'm simply asking for instant gear changes between classes or, for example, swapping different gear sets in the middle of a dungeon (not while engaged or incurring enmity). At the moment it can take upwards of 10-15 seconds just to change from one class to another. This may seem like a short time, but when you're bound to one spot for that long just to change classes it can be pretty annoying.
