If you wanna be techical the Domans are supposed to be an analogue to the Japanese, while the landmass of Othard is a stand in for Asia. And Doma isn't stated to be the entirely of Othard. Plus the (at least the female version) dress heavily resembles the MNK Temple/Melee gear (which is heavily associated with Ala Mhigo).
No, it's more that every terrible F2P MMO has wings. You can generally look at F2P MMOs and know that they're garbage if they have cosmetic wings. I'd rather FFXIV didn't become one of those MMOs, and quite a few people see it the same way.
Garlean tech exists in Hydaelyn. How we get it doesn't matter. It exists and therefore would not be lore-breaking for us to have it. Yoshi has even already said we likely WILL get a gunblade wielding job when we reach Garlemald in the story. As far as I can tell, alot of these players actually can't point a good reason as to why this shouldn't be in the game. If there was a gunblade class to be released they'd flip their shits just to play it, regardless of how it doesn't fit in with the lore since its garlean tech and we're eorzeans, but I bet you they'll theory craft something just so it would be possible. They just don't want it. Too bad for them.
There are no humanoid races on Hydaelyn that have wings. It simply doesn't exist. There is no way to explain any of the player races just suddenly sprouting wings. That IS lore-breaking.
Your example is terrible as it only serves to highlight precisely why wings make no sense at all.

I can be condescending, closed minded, and dismissive to!
Which is reason for it to actually show up in game! Seeing as we're about to be assaulting a Garlean controlled state, coming across that tech is a distinct possibility. Logic and lore dictation... imagine that!If there was a gunblade class to be released they'd flip their shits just to play it, regardless of how it doesn't fit in with the lore since its garlean tech and we're eorzeans, but I bet you they'll theory craft something just so it would be possible.
I'm open to wings of any kind
It rly look like fake wings attachd with the dress, it's not realy lorebreaking at this point, but the angel/demon theme suck as much as the costums :s
And have wings like that block my screen when I'm raiding or when certain mechanics in a raids requires more visibility, no thanks. And yes that's coming from someone who has played F2P games for a pretty good amount of time. And most of the nicer looking wings are from gacha boxes, I have had players spending 1,100 USD for wings with totally 0 stats boost.
And just so you know the game i played before, has the same publisher as the one hosting FFXIV China, and this isn't the first time they do all this regional exclusive items, players got so sick of it. IF you haven't played Shanda international games before, you haven't seen the a company much worse than Nexon and Asiasoft.
I've been playing DN for close to 6years, it is shanda's biggest game. Since they own Eyedentity, they get them to make exclusive items for the China region, if the english players want them we have to pay a certain amount to get them since there is " copyright (lol)". When it comes to OUR exclusive items, they got everything. Despite our server yielding the most profit we get subpar treatment and because the begging for exclusive items became so common, this practice occurred more often.
If you hadn't notice things are slowly changing, we're having more codes locked behind merchandises, prices are increasing for the mog station and more "regional exclusive" items. While this isn't game changing, whether it is ethical is another thing. So.. becareful of what you wish for, because the things I'm seeing now is what exactly happened to the game I came from and if anything the players dug their own graves.
I'd rather money be spent on improving the game, the servers and etc. Not something that every F2P MMO has. Adding additional stuff requires budget and time, for F2P games I can understand because how much money they generate is base on how many people buy their cash items, so obviously it has to look good. We are a subscription base game, that is this game's lifeline, the cash shop here is just a bonus. Just so you know Dragon Nest only gets big patches once every year, almost 90% of the time it is gachapon OR spend to win events. Because the opposing players left the ones who stayed behind accepted how they did things the company just continues to milk its players.

Really? FFXIV will suddenly become F2P and garbage if they add a piece of glamour that has wings....I mean from the screenshot we have I don't think they look all that great either and I kinda don't care if they add it (I want the bardings though), but this is a ridiculous argument. To me your example is terrible.
I mean will it make the news?
"THIS JUST IN: FFXIV adds two pieces of glamour gear! Black and white robes with wings attached. The game is now F2P and is automatically garbage."
"All because they added two optional glamours Steve?"
"Yeah it was a very bad move on their part Bob."
"Hear more at 11 about how this game is crashing and burning over 2 pieces of gear!"
I mean...come on...at least be real and just say you don't want them because you just don't like it.
NOW I CAN MAKE NINA FROM THE BREATH OF FIRE GAMES....... oh wait China...... damn it
